I am in the habit of getting full sets of gel nails + gel polish and then deciding I miss my natural nails. It's such a pain to remove them on my own. The other night I tried desperately to remove the polish off my right thumb nail with a cube 100/180 coarse, foam file from Sally's Beauty Supply (see first photo). It took about 20-30 minutes of filing and some tired arms to even make a dent in the polish. The Sally's file was being eaten away after barely one nail. I went on Amazon for a better option. I purchased these files for the price and the great reviews. I chose the 100/180 option- it's very coarse which definitely helps with removing gel polish and nails. Very happy with my decision. In the second photo, it took less than one minute to remove all gel polish; no soaking in acetone, no hard filing, just gentle back-and-forth. I am so impressed and RELIEVED that I now have an easy option when it comes to removing stubborn gel polish and nails. It's also amazing for shaping! The filing hardly put a dent in the one file; I am working on nail #3 and using the same area on the file with great success. The file is extremely thick and sturdy so it won't bend while filing. Will be purchasing again when (or if) I ever need some more files! Read more

Nail files that work better for artificial nails. The files I purchased are 100 Grit on one side and 180 Grit on the other side. 100 Grit is very rough, and these did not work well on my natural nails because they were too rough. However, these would be good for artificial/acrylic nails and toe nails. They also work great as sanding tools. The 180 Grit side is a little bit softer, but still pretty rough. My nails were too thin for these files, but I think these would work well on people who have thicker nails or perhaps on toe nails. You get 10 for $8, so I think it's a good deal. They're not too expensive, so you don't have to feel bad using them freely and throwing them away when they are not usable anymore. However, they're pretty sturdy, and I think they would last you a while. Overall, a good deal on nail files, as long as you use them for their proper use. Read more

I got the 180/240 grit for natural nails. After reading some of the latest reviews, I was worried that these files would be flimsy, or not glued together properly. Mine arrived in great shape, they are very well made, and the grit on them is just what I wanted. The grit seems like its is well adhered to the board, little pieces of sand or whatever don't come off when you file. These will last for a long time. It's a good rigid file with a dense cushion foam core, all the layers seem well laminated. The edges of the files are cleanly cut and smooth, there are no splits or frayed edges, so they won't snag on your skin or cuticles. The file is great for gently shaping and eliminating ridges on your nails. I think the 180 grit is the logo side and the 240 grit is the blank side. I feel like the 180 side would be coarse enough to file down gel polish before soaking for removal. Apparently the file is washable, but I just tap it against my leg to clean dust off it since it's just for my personal use. I like it so much that I'm looking at getting a pack of the "Markartt Fine Nail Buffer File Polishing Natural Nail Cushion Files 400 and 6000 Grit" next so I can buff and polish my nails on days I don't want nail polish. I'm glad I found these. It was a really good value for the money and a very well made product. Read more
