I bought this messenger bag to replace a backpack that had seen too many trips shoved under an airplane seat. I took it to California last week and it preformed beautifully. With flap buckets it is very secure. Enough compartments and pockets for everything I need. If I have a criticism it's that it's too big and I am tempted to bring more stuff which makes it heavy to lug around but that's my fault not the bag. The straps are sturdy, material will hold up and it fits under the seat in front of me even with way too much stuff packed inside! Read more

Great bag---I have had a Manhattan Portage bag before that was longer and held more items---and it lasted for years and years. This bag will do the same I expect. I like the compact design, the convenient pockets and the interior yellow canvas for the main section---that's great protection for books should it be raining hard! Read more

Awesome bag. I've been using this bag nearly daily for 10 years, and it FINALLY started to give up. Seriously. After 10 years of solid usage, including trips abroad and the daily trek to work, this bag finally has started to fall apart. I'd say that a 10-year life expectancy on a bag is a sign of serious strength. I'm glad to see they are still making them, because I'm getting myself a new one. Read more

My wife bought me the Manhattan Portage Dana as a birthday gift in 2006. I've used it daily on my commute to work (& school for a time) via public transit. I've also taken on a number of vacations as my carry on. It's showing very little wear for being 5 years old. The main strap has a little fraying, but nothing that can't be mended and reinforced. The only thing that I wish the bag did better was stay place while riding a bike, but that would be a problem with any messenger style bag. Also, the bag is plenty comfortable without the padded strap wrap. Read more
