I was a bike messenger in Manhattan 15 years ago, I only bought this bag because I feared that had had lost my original Messenger bag in a recent move. I love the new "medium" size and the same rugged quality of my original bag. I found my old bag, now I have the perfect compliment of sizes for trips small and large. UPDATE: I have lived with this bag for 6 1/2 years now and have changed my opinion about it just a little. I have decided this is the bag I want to use until it is worn out. That is, this will probably be my last bag. It is indestructible. It served my needs as a lawyer, and now that I am retired. I no longer think a larger flap is necessary, and the clasps are just as strong today as when I bought it. I am also at peace with the metal key clip, but given the strength of the clasps, I am puzzled as to why they didn't go with plastic. In any event, the bag washed up fine, and looks great. I have lived with this bag for 2 months. It has a lot of room, a great size for legal redwells, or an overnight. there are four pockets under the flap- 2 good sized zipper pockets on the outside of the bag, a 1/2 pocket that is open on the outside, and and one larger zipper pocket on the iside that holds quite a lot. This pocket is sewn into the top seam and can pivot out the bag while you ar packing a bigger load, which is handy. While good-sized it could even be a little bigger. Three possible improvements: 1. While the clasps seem strong and rugged, they are too hard to open. There are quality clasps that are much easier to open. Unless you have a fairly strong pinching grip, these clasps are not for you. 2. A larger flap over would be better- add 1 1/2 - 2 inches. 3. I like the minimalism of this bag very much, but a loop in the inside anchored in one of the side seams that would allow one to put a coffee travel mug/water bottle/thermos container inside would be great. And a plastic key clasp instead of the metal one would be more in keeping with the style of the bag. Small changes. This is a very good bag, Rugged with a nice design. Read more

Nice bag overall but the material is a little too stiff, especially around the flap. Open and closing of the flap offers no flexibility if you are in a tight space, like on a subway or bus. Plus, the small zipper pocket at the top of the flap is in the wrong place - should be little further down on the flap. When the bag is sitting on your lap, the back facing down, any attempt to open the zippered pocket causes items to roll right out. And if you are not careful, you could lose them if you don't realize they've rolled out (which happened to me). Plus, the other zippered pockets under the flap and in the bag could be made more ergonomically in placement. Otherwise, the large bag I bought is very roomy, comfortable to wear and easy to open and close. Durability is not an issue. Read more

This is a great knock-around bag that fills several roles. It's big enough that you can stash quite a bit in it. Travels to and from work with me, carrying all the work essentials, and can accommodate a change of clothes and shoes for a stop by the gym on the way home. Keep in mind if you're looking to carry a laptop or tablet, this is just a messenger... it does not have any built-in padded storage areas. It's a big guy though, so will easily fit a sleeve or even a small laptop bag inside the main compartment. Read more

This bag is large and has more than enough room to fit everything I need - I usually carry a laptop, accordion folder, notebook or textbook, and water bottle with room to spare. However the zippered pockets on the bag are awkwardly narrow/deep for me to put smaller things into, and I've already lost my fair share of pens from the open pocket. In retrospect, may have gone with another design. Overall the bag works and I'm fairly satisfied. Read more
