Size: Large Color: Black Downhill skiing 70+ days a year I was looking for some additional protection. These padded shorts are well made and comfortable. I was primarily looking for hip and tailbone protection, but the added thigh protection is nice. These shorts move well with your body and don’t bunch up anywhere They’re not visibly noticeable under ski pants when skiing or walking, but you can vaguely see the hex pattern when sitting on a chair lift with shell-type ski pants. I originally bought the Shock Doctor Ultra Shockskin and the docooler 3D Padded Shorts, but sent them back. The Shock Doctor Men's Ultra Shockskin 5-Pad Extended Thigh Impact Shorts looked really cool, but the padding was really hard, it almost had a styrofoam feel to it. Very dense. Also, when squatting the thigh pads didn’t flex well with you. The docooler 3D Padded Short Protective Hip Butt Pad Ski Skate Snowboard Skating Skiing Protection Drop Resistance Roller Compression Shorts Pants were a bargain, but were a bit too bulky. They’d work well for snowboarding. The McDavid Hex Shorts are expensive, but as I mentioned they’re well made and serve my intended purpose well. Read more

I bought these for skiing after I had a fall that bruised my thigh. These shorts are sleek and easily fit under my ski pants. I felt like they rode a little low on my waist. I guess the current style for pants, in general, is to not rise above the hip bone. These are not super padded for extreme impact. They will, however, provide, a great deal of cushioning with very little bulk. Read more

We bought this product to protect our 14 year old son while playing competitive basketball. He is an extremely aggressive player that needs padding every where from diving around on the floor. We also love the protection from getting kneed in the thigh to protect him from deep thigh bruises. Great product - had to order a size up because they were too tight in the legs. This along with McDavid knee and elbow pads protect him from bruises and floor burns. Read more
