This pad of paper lives on my kneeboard that I use for flight training. Being able to quickly take down notes is crucial and not having to rummage around to find something to write on makes this one of the most important pieces of flight gear I carry. I do use a small binder clip attached to the bottom of the pages just to keep them from fluttering around either while I'm taxiing or doing some slow flight with the window open. What's the big deal about the brand of the yellow pad you use? Well if you're like me, my daily notes are kept for legal reasons for several years. I need to be able to refer back to conversations and meeting notes and have a credible, legible source. I have tried all the other brands and store brands and found that this is the best paper. Four key reasons why: 1. The Mead yellow pad paper is has a smooth writing surface. Other brands that I have tried have a rougher surface texture, allowing ink from a fountain pen or a felt tip to bleed through excessively. Using a medium nib fountain pen is impossible with cheap paper as the ink bleeds through to the next page and writing becomes illegible. Rougher surface means your writing is harder to read. 2. Mead paper does not bleed. Even if you use a rollerball, or a ballpoint this paper will give you better results than other brands. 3. Mead is also a brighter yellow which results in better contrast, easier on the eyes. For users of mechanical pencils this is an especially important product feature. 4. Mead paper is better quality micro perforated which means it will rip cleanly but it won't tear off until you need it to. Other brands (because of cheaper paper and perforation) will tear inadvertently and you end up with paper salad. Read more

I ordered these and had them shipped directly to my son who is in the military to use for notes in the field. I know that most people will not be using them for the same purposes, but if they can withstand 2-3 weeks in the field then I have no doubts they can withstand general office work. He traveled with them folded in half, and the paper still held in the top binding. FIrst the value for the money was great. The sturdiness and durability were beyond our expectations.
