I am a lefty who likes to use a fountain pen to write letters. This is the only paper I use that doesn't smudge when my hand runs through the words I just wrote. I used to buy these for $1 at the 99 Cent Store, but I bought these on Amazon because of the pandemic. The price is reasonable, and 6 pads will last me a while. I am pleased that this pad has not changed since I first bought this almost 20 years ago. The light blue lines on the pages are clearly visible, and the paper weight is just right for letters. It's the same weight as the paper on the Mead college notebooks. They do not tear clean, though, and the top edge will not have a clean cut when you tear pages from the pad. I don't mind though since I'm writing letters, not school notes. This paper is not fancy or ultra smooth, although it's smooth enough to allow the fountain pen to glide on the pages. I will start with the one and only thing that isn't great about these notepads. The paper is not bright white and it can be hard to see my notes if I write in pencil. (If you are looking for bright white paper to write elegant notes to people, these aren't for you.) Otherwise, I have been more than satisfied with these notepads and the price is great. The reviews had me worried about ragged tears when removing sheets of paper, but I haven't had that problem on my end. That said, I am also careful when I remove a sheet and don't rip them out in a hurry. The 1st page of every notepad is glued differently from the rest and needs to be removed very carefully to prevent tearing. The rest work just fine. If you intend to use a fountain or felt-tip pen, these aren't the notepads for you. Like some other reviewers, I also like the fact that the back of each page does not have a top margin. More writing lines! Plus, I can faintly see those lines on the front page top margin and use them as guidelines when I write a header on top of the page. I also like not having a margin line on the left hand side. It gives me more flexibility with note taking. Plus, no annoying margin line on the right hand side when you flip the page over. Read more
