I love this thing! I have never needed the power cord even though it's an option for an alternate power source. Nice and loud so I can hear from another room or floor in the house. I have run on battery alone efficiently. I recommend the black color V.S. the white. White looks icky over time with the dirt that gets on it. We purchased a used Medcenter talking alarm clock & 31 day pill organizer for my older father. It did not come with the power supply so we purchased this. It powers the alarm clock as expected. Now it is power by this supply & the batteries are there as a backup for power outages. As a hint if you also have this pill organizer, in the bottom left most position you can drill a properly placed hole through the front & back. You can then route the plug under the organizer, through these holes & the clock will now sit flush on the organizer as when using on battery power only. Read more
