It's exactly what it looks like, and it looks good. This really works to give me the back support that I need for my overworked back, and keep the pain from shutting me down. It gets me through the day without back pain. It has a stiffening effect all around the torso that supports the back. The shoulder straps mean that it won't slide down on you, so you never have to pull it up. I was using my 4" weightlifting belt for back support, but it was bulky, where this is not.
