I needed a pair of workout shorts... and here we are! I got the navy version, and it's a lovely dark shade. I normally wouldn't care for dayglo orange accents, but it seems to work here. I'm a chunky guy who normally does 36 or 38 inch pants, but these seem to fit just fine with the standard L (like most other shorts). Some have complained about the pockets being too shallow, and while I see their point and kind of agree, I was able to fit my phone, sunglass case and wallet in the pockets, albeit with not a lotta room to spare. So they work for me. They're very lightweight and could easy work as swim trunks (they have elastic AND drawstrings in the waist!). I wish I could tell you how they work as hiking shorts, especially around water splashes, but it's 26F and I'm not going outside in these! They seem like a good value for money, and I'm happy! Fabric’s a nylon/spandex blend, which means it's got solid stretch without feeling like I’m wearing cling wrap. It's breathable, dries quick, and yes — it makes a slight swish-swish sound when you walk. Personally, I don't mind sounding like a stealthy bag of chips when I’m at the gym, but fair warning. The fit? Nailed it. Elastic waistband plus drawstring = chef’s kiss. Even us thicc-thighed guys get decent range of motion without feeling like we're testing the structural limits of synthetic fibers. These 7" athletic shorts are a bit more versatile than many of the other athletic shorts I have. These have 3 zipper pockets (2 side and 1 rear) which it what I'd want to have for general use shorts so I have space to carry keys, wallet, and phone in separate pockets. The zippers are smooth with good pulls and all of the pockets have decent capacity. The front pockets can easily fit a large size phone comfortably. Most of my athletic shorts are polyester-based. These are nylon with 10% spandex. The nylon content does make the fabric more noisy (almost crinkly sounding) and not quite as soft compared to polyester. But it has 10% spandex and has good 4-way stretch which helps make these some pretty comfortable shorts. The fit is comfortably relaxed which is good for someone like me with large quads. Overall these are some pretty comfortable and functional athletic shorts that are also good for general wear too. Read more
