Mens Winter Down Jacket with Detachable Hood Lightweight Warm Hooded Coat

This is very nice if you're just going about your business in cold weather. It is a thick, warm coat not an ultra light and not really bomber enough to be for backpacking. It's super warm and can keep you comfortable for a walk around town in bitter cold, or when you have to spend 10 minutes chipping away ice before you can drive. I like the main zipper and those for the hand warmer pockets and how well shrouded they are. I could've done without the buttons but they're no problem. There are bungie draw cords for the waist and hood. All seem to work well and the design looks nice. The hood removes via two buttons on each side and a hidden zipper. This is the only zipper I'm not impressed with but it shouldn't get used. I want the hood on it. There's a fairly deep inner pocket on each side with a button closure. Finally there are Velcro adjusters on the wrist cuffs. I wouldn't use them too frequently and I would only need to if caught in a deluge where I have to raise my arms. The shell material has a bit of a laminated type of finish feel to it. It's smooth but a bit heavy feeling...fine for what I'm using it for. It sheds a little rain without issue though and it feels like that was the intent. My only complaint, a minor one, is that I'd rather have the hand pockets lined with the shell material rather than cloth. It's fine though. Size-wise um happy I got a large. I don't know if I should call this a "coat" or a "jacket." It's very light in weight, and the material weight is fairly thin like a jacket. It's warmer than you'd think given how thick the material and lining is. I would not hesitate to wear this in cold weather on short walks around town or the neighborhood. However, for extreme cold and wind, I'd choose something a little longer in body length and heavier. The fit is really good. The sleeves are the perfect length for me. I wear a men's Large size, and often that size jacket has sleeves that are too long. The body fits a little snug, but that's great for reducing bulk and keeping it comfortable for in and out of stores when shopping. If you wear lots of heavy clothes or a shirt and sweater underneath, it might feel a little tight on you. The coat is very soft and the hood fits well. I think this is a great value in a heavy jacket, compared to what I've shopped for in local stores and even outlet stores. The quality is excellent for the price. I wouldn't wear this outside in a heavy work environment. It will catch on things and tear too easily. But it's great for a heavier jacket in cooler temps where your regular winter coat will be too bulky. The pockets are good and there are pockets both inside and outside, too.
