Mercer Culinary Z m 8-Piece Magnetic Board Knife Set 14 1 8 x 10 1 4 Stainless Steel

We have had these knives for six months. I wanted to see how they lasted before reviewing. They are simply wonderful. I hate dull knives. These knives really hold their edge. I usually use several stones to keep knife edges, but I decided to test whether a Work Sharp sharpener would be sufficient. I figured most people use machines to sharpen so it would be a better test to report. The Work Sharp puts a very fine edge on these knives, and the edge really holds for many uses, even cutting on a hard plastic cutting board that is tough on edges. So even if you don’t know how to use sharpening stones, you can keep these very sharp with machine sharpening. What one can’t see from the photos is how ergonomic and comfortable the handles are. I do lots of chopping, and the bigger knife is more comfortable than any knife I have ever owned. Plus the handle shape makes cutting with finesse or fileting easy. I have bought and used far more expensive knives. These have become my favorites. Only five slots in the holder so they stand alone, but it is a high quality and good looking holder. My kitchen is all stainless steel and the nice stainless and glass display case goes well with the overall design of the kitchen. The knives are quality Mercer knives but very reasonably priced. Extra razor sharp edge and excellent build quality. Read more

I now use these more than my Cutco knives as they are sharper and just as easy to clean after every use. A whole lot cheaper than Cutco as well. Wish I would have seen these first!! Read more

The knives came razor sharp and the display case look great on my countertop. The only draw back is if you store it under your cabinets you might not be able to withdraw the knife without moving out on your countertop. Jeff Read more

Nice and sharp, but aren’t all new knives sharp? Attractive. Good price for the quality. Not wustoff quality, but not the price either. Biggest gripe is that I bought one of their better knives, but due to the shape, I couldn’t put it on the block. It wouldn’t stand up straight. Still, good value for the money. Read more

I was researching knives for my daughter and found these. There are several different models genesis, renaissance and zum, the Company mostly sells to culinary schools and I don't know why. I like them a lot, they feel good in my hand, are well balanced and EXTREMELY sharp. I have both wusthof and J.A henckels and i like these much better. The glass block is slim and is perfect for those with counter space issues. I will purchase again. Read more
