Okay, let me start by saying that clocks and I have a history. A few years ago, I was having trouble with my phone alarm malfunctioning. It would just randomly decide not to make noise some mornings. I was late for work multiple times, and ended up on thin ice. I bought an alarm clock, and it did the same thing. I bought another alarm clock, and it did the same thing. In frustration, I downloaded a second alarm app to my phone and started setting multiple alarms every morning. But I'd like to have a clock in my bedroom. I don't like having to fumble for my phone and squint at a glowing screen when I wake up in the night and want to know what time it is. However, I am very light sensitive and also can't handle a brightly lit digital display in my dark room. Enter the Mesqool Digital Alarm Clock with Date, Temperature and Humidity. I've always been intrigued by the concept of these "glowing numbers on wooden surface" style clocks, and wondered if they look fake and cheesy. This one does not. No one's going to mistake it for a real plank of wood, but it also doesn't look like painted-on stripes trying to be wood grain. It's sleek and unobtrusive. The display appearance fits the clock well, I think, making an overall pleasant thing to have sitting out in the open. Having the temperature, and humidity on my bedside clock is a thing I didn't know I needed. My 155-year-old house has a quirky heating system, and it isn't unusual for me to ask, "Am I having a hot flash, or did the heat crank itself?" Or, "Am I overly cold, or did the heating oil line freeze again?" Now, I just check my clock. (It confirms that my house is currently in a "crank the heat and ignore the thermostat" stage.) I'll be honest, I haven't tried the actual alarm feature. Beeping alarm clocks startle me too loudly and result in me jumping awake in terror every time I hear a noise in the night, so I never planned to use the alarm feature on this one. (My phone alarm works now--finally.) And now, the most important thing for a bedroom clock, in my mind: how bright is it? I am happy to report that while it does glow quite brightly, the dimmer function also fades to a level that is invisible while the room lights are on, and only a subtle but distinguishable glow in the dark. I don't even notice it unless I look right toward the bedside table. So, five stars for this clock. I love it. Read more
This has got to be the coolest alarm clock I've ever seen! It looks like a block of wood (actually plastic but very realistic looking) with buttons on top when you take it out of the package. Then you plug it in (power cord included) and suddenly a clock with large, easy to see digits and also date, time, temperature and relative humidity (for the room it's in) appear in a complimentary and easy on your eyes orange-yellow color. It's so cool! It's like the characters just appear on the surface of the wood. It has 5 brightness levels controlled by a dedicated dimmer button and you can still see the wood grain pattern through the lit numbers. Very stylish! For the temperature, you can choose Fahrenheit or Celsius. You can set 2 different alarms and there's a larger snooze button right in the middle of it and an alarm off button on the far right, so it's easy to find the buttons you are looking for. It has a spot for a battery backup so you don't have to reprogram everything if the power goes out. It also includes a standard USB port and a USB C port for charging your phone or other devices (charging cords not included). It works exactly as it should and seems to be a quality build. I'm very happy with it and highly recommend it! I just love the way it looks! I'd give it more than 5 stars if it was possible! Read more

This clock has all the basic features anyone would need, plus few more. I don’t really need to monitor the temperature and humidity in our bedroom, but why not? The clock has a large, easy to read display, which is dimmable. The battery backup feature uses normal AAA batteries, which I like better than button style watch batteries. The USB charging ports on the clock are a nice to have feature, although they are located on the backside and I may not use them very often. The AC/USB power cord provided is about 48” long, so you must choose a location near a power outlet, since it is USB-A to a proprietary fitting at the clock end. Settings are fairly intuitive, but don’t lose the instruction sheet. This clock has a row of single function buttons along the top, which is less frustrating than the multi-function keys that you find on many other devices. Some minor complaints: the base mainly prevents the clock from tipping over backward; it is somewhat top-heavy and prone to tipping in the forward direction. Also, all settings are manual, we have other clocks that are able to self-configure when you plug them in. Read more

I was able to set this clock up without directions. It has a variety of buttons to control all the functions. The only thing I wish it did have is auto-dimmer--you have to automatically adjust the brightness of the display, but on the 2nd most dim setting, you can easily read it in daylight or dark, without creating too much light to bother sleep. It has a battery compartment on the back for two AAA batteries. I installed the batteries before plugging it in with its included power cord, but the display did not turn on until I plugged it in, so I'm not sure if it runs off batteries alone. This might be a failsafe in case it loses power, so you don't lose your settings. It automatically turned on once I plugged in the power cord. The faux wood finish looks nice and doesn't look too fake or cheesy. It has two small chrome-finished plastic feet that keep it from falling over, and it's not easy to knock over despite not weighing very much. I have a fan in my bedroom that displays the temperature and this clock is about 1º higher, but it's also closer to an HVAC register. I would say it's fairly accurate. It's easy to switch between 12- and 24-hour, with one button. You can adjust the volume for the alarm and it allows you to program up to three separate alarms, which is handy. Overall, this was exactly what I was looking for in a bedroom alarm clock. Read more
