They’re two-layered, with spandex shorts underneath the outer layer, which is nice for coverage and comfort. The 7” inseam works really well for his long legs (he’s 6’3”). The waistband is comfortable, and I like that the drawstring is hidden. *Note- check the sizing chart before ordering. He normally wears a large, and that’s what Amazon recommended based on his height and weight, so I ordered a large. However, I should’ve checked the detailed size chart—he would have been better in a medium. They’re a bit roomy on his narrow hips and legs. I really appreciate the large zippered convenient pocket on each side. It’s great for keeping items secure during activities, so there’s no worry about things falling out. Both layers dry quickly. Goodish pair of shorts. The only thing I dislike is the drawstring. They cheaped out on this one part. It's too thin for how the waistband is structured. It needs a wider string. My first wash on delicate caused the drawstring to knot into itself and snapped one side of it. Read more

These are roomy, but I think that's just how they're meant to be. I ordered a Large based on my waist measurement, and while the waist fits well the rest is kind of blousy. The four-way (slightly) stretch fabric has a decent texture: not too drapey, not too crunchy, not too clingy. The pockets are excellent all around; the regular outside pockets will easily swallow a phone and they have zippers. The leg pockets on the built-in undies are just big enough for an iPhone 17 Pro, and they're not particularly easy to access while wearing the shorts.
