Interesting design, hope they last

When I first opened the box I was pleasantly surprised at the weight of these glasses. They are quite stout. The box said they are 15 fl oz glasses and I was able to get 16 fl oz of water in them. I was a bit surprised, in a good way, that they were a touch larger than advertised. My glasses were listed as honey but swirls of color are more of a darker tan, not really a warm honey color. The swirl pattern has both solid colors and a touch of gold flecks in the glass. On one of my glasses, I saw crazing in the art glass (the colored swirls). Art glass, due to the coloring pigments, can have a slightly different coefficient of expansion than the base clear glass. Time will tell if these stresses will cause the glass to crack all the way through or if they will remain only small isolated flaws in the glass. Sometimes the manufacturer can use additional annealing time to help mitigate the risk of crazing. The downside is that this takes additional energy and time, both things that cost money. I am hoping that the crazing I am seeing will remain isolated and only be a minor visual flaw. These glasses are nice for enjoying a summer evening gin and tonic on the deck after work. Read more
