TLDR: Buy it. It works well, it has impressive and useful features, it looks great, it’s thin/low-profile, and it’s a great price. Detailed review: I’m very happy with this scale, and it has certainly upped my espresso game by leaps and bounds. I’m able to weigh my beans very precisely down to a tenth of a gram (roughly the weight of a single bean), so my dosing is on point. Also, it fits beneath the portafilter with room to spare for my cup, so I can weigh my shots and accurately measure my input/output ratio. And automatic mode is magic! When the espresso hits the cup, the timer starts running, so I can measure flow rate along with everything else! Overall, super easy to use and very necessary for the at-home barista. One caveat: It acted weird on the 2nd or 3rd day, and I thought I was going to have to return it. The weight would slowly creep up even though I wasn’t adding any coffee. I dusted it off, made sure it was dry, set it on a more stable surface… I still don’t know what the matter was, but it stopped freaking out and it hasn’t really given me any trouble since. Also, I should mention that the automatic function doesn’t always work 100% perfectly; it works, and usually works quite well, but depending on the flow rate, you might get some drops dribbling into the cup and the timer not detect it right away. (I think the timer must be activated according to some sort of algorithm that looks for a certain increase in a certain amount of time, so a slower initial drip rate might not trigger it at first.) Also weirdly, it seems like about half of the time when the weight stops increasing (i.e., espresso stops flowing) , the timer pauses (as I think it’s supposed to do), but other times, the timer keeps running until you manually stop it. I don’t know… It’s a weird glitch, I guess, but it doesn’t really make any difference. The weight is accurate, and that’s the primary thing to keep an eye on. So, is it perfect? No, I guess not. But, it works extremely well and functions perfectly for my purposes. In fact, it’s a lot nicer and fancier than I expected – plus, it’s more affordable and more streamlined than its obvious rival the Acacia. Read more

I didn't expect much but it works really well and seems to be very accurate. It's much more sensitive (to 0.1g) than the scale I was using to measure my coffee and the autostart timer works really well. Also, unlike my other scale, this one is USB-C rechargable and so far has no indication of needing a recharge after a week or so of daily use. My other scale uses CR2032 batteries and goes through a pair every three weeks, so being able to recharge instead is quite nice. It's small and I can use it to time the extraction and also use it to measure out heated water for tea, or whatever I need. This is definitely a steal for the price. Read more

Scale is definitely worth the money and has helped me achieve more consistency with my shots. The only drawbacks I can tell so far are that the 'auto start' for the timer doesn't detect right off and the buttons are capacitive touch, but not super sensitive. I've had to re-tap a few times to get either the tare or the timer to work. Otherwise it's a great little scale and definitely worth the money. Beyond this price point your paying for increasingly smaller returns of sensitivity and responsiveness. Read more

I ended up sending this back. I was hoping for a dual purpose scale to measure both coffee in my Aeropress and food for macro counting. However, it seems like a great little device. Perfect for its intended use. I liked the timer function and the premium feel and look. I will buy again if I am ever in the market for standalone coffee scale. Read more

I have owned that well-known "other" scale for some years, and it recently failed, much to my dismay. So I decided that I'd try a "cheap" replacement. After all, I can buy 7 of these for the price of the other one, and still have money left over for a couple of pounds of coffee. So far I have been very impressed. It seems solid and well built, works perfectly, and I'm back to making my morning espresso with no issues. There are a couple of limitations: 1) It's not quite exactly accurate (by a couple of 1/10ths g) and unlike the fancy one, I couldn't find a way to calibrate it. However, this doesn't matter for my use--all I care about is consistency, not objective accuracy. 2) It doesn't have all the automatic modes of the other scale, so I have to press a couple of buttons rather than just set the cup on it. This is slightly annoying, but I'm going to solve it by putting a shot timer on the espresso machine (which is a better solution anyway). Meanwhile I'm happily making coffee. If it breaks some day, well, so did the "other" one. Read more
