I didn’t pay attention to the “mini’ part of the item. I have 3 grandchildren- 2 grandsons (8 years & 3 years), and a granddaughter (5 years). My grandsons love remote control cars; for Christmas, my husband & I got our grandsons remote control Monster Trucks, which were huge. My granddaughter played with her brothers’ monster trucks and had a blast. Before they left to go home, I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, which was a couple of months away; she said a monster truck like her brothers but in pink. I laughed at the pink part and told her they may not have pink, and she replied, it’s ok, I still want one. I ordered the monster truck but it was not pink. When I saw this remote control toy truck with a car, and it was pink, I had to get it for her. I wondered how she would react to the little pink tow truck remote control vehicle. She received her big monster truck first during her birthday party. I wanted to give her the pink one after her friends had gone home. After most of the people left, it was bath time. She was giving my daughter a difficult time because she was sleepy but still had a couple hours before bedtime. My daughter was doing clean-up, and hosting the few family members who hadn’t left yet. I offered to give her a bath, which made her very happy, and gave her a burst of energy. She finished her bath and got on her pajamas. I had given the gift to her brothers to give to her from them. Her eyes lit up when she opened it. She learned quickly how to operate the remote control. She really loved that it was small, pink, and came with a second little car. After we left, I called my daughter when we finally returned home and she said my granddaughter decided it would be the tow truck for her Barbie House. My daughter asked her what she liked most about her day and she told her the pink truck. This pink tow truck and beetle car that attaches to it are made of metal. It comes with this little remote control and goes forward, backwards, left and right. The book tells you thoroughly how to operate the remote control, and everything it can do and does. It’s rechargeable (no batteries) The little lights even work. Big or small, young or old, children and adults will all like this remote control tow truck with a mini beetle car. Read more

This 1/64 scale RC tow truck with the toy VW Beetle is a fantastic addition to my mini RC collection. You control it completely with your phone, and the responsiveness is surprisingly smooth for such a small vehicle. Both the tow truck and the Beetle are diecast and have incredible detail honestly, you wouldn’t even know the tow truck is an RC car unless you picked it up and looked closely. The tow truck has a good weight to it and feels really solid. Hooking up the Beetle and towing it around adds a fun layer to the play. Battery life is decent, and the whole set handles well, making it perfect for collectors or anyone who enjoys miniature RC cars. Read more

The media could not be loaded. This is a neat little model of an unspecified tow truck. I ordered the blue one with the white Herbie-esque VW Beetle in tow. The "disabled" VW Beetle is a nice detail - but it also creates a problem. Unfortunately, you cannot steer the truck with the VW attached! I included footage of that issue at the end of my video. The weight of the VW causes the front wheels of the truck to lose traction, so the truck just goes straight forward and back. That's a little disappointing, even though a towed vehicle might otherwise affect maneuverability in a small RC model like this. An RC tow truck that can't steer while towing the disabled car that came with it fails to fully deliver the goods - so I knocked off a star from my rating to reflect this issue. Maybe with some tinkering (weight on the front end of the truck?) you can get this to steer with the VW hooked up? But out of the box, it looks like it won't. This is the third "TRASPED" brand mini-R/C car that I've tried. Due to the physical configuration, this one ended up being a little less zippy than the fastest I've tried so far (a Toyota Landcruiser), but it is still a fun little RC car - and perhaps a better choice for the younger set, since it is a bit slower and therefore more stable to drive. I've only used the bundled remote control, not the app. After charging up the tow truck, I was able to drive it around for over 30 minutes without any sign that the battery was slowing down. The truck did best on hard surface floors, but it slows a bit on flat carpets (like runners and door mats). Unlike the Landcruiser, which could be flipped if you were not careful, the stance of the wheels on this tow truck kept it upright through various maneuvers. I've included a video of it circling arounds at the different speed levels. The headlights, taillights, and ground effects lighting are all nice touches, especially if you are trying to navigate out from under furniture or in a darker room. The charging cable is super short, but it is a USB-C so you likely have a longer cable around that you can use. As has been my experience with all of the TRASPED mini RC vehicles, it took a little tweaking with the front wheel adjustment underneath the car to get it running in a relatively straight line. One concern was that when I had the adjuster centered, it was a bit loose rather than locked into one of the adjusting notches. Still, I was able to get the truck to run relatively straight, but it seems like I might need to insert a small piece of paper under the adjustment lever as a "shim" to keep the correct setting for the front wheels. All in all, a fun little toy car! But the bad news for the "Love Bug" is that you are going to have to leave it stranded on the side of the road while you are having fun driving the unburdened tow truck around. Read more
