Received the Ipad / Iphone clamp holder promptly. Packaging is solid with covers protecting the surfaces from scratching. Assembly- The clamp requires to be pushed into the ball mount and if you can’t do this… You should not be thinking about buying any product at all. Simple. Tighten and rotate to your position you like. Clamp – The metal is solid with threads going into real metal … not pot metal that will wear out quickly. Rubber mounts are thick and of a solid type that will not wear out quickly. Some caution should be used if using the rubber covers to the metal clamps. They can be slid off when not needed. Be a bit cautious when transporting in gear bag they don’t get lost in the bag when rubbing around with other gear. The clamp will fit around a 1.25” 1 1/4” Dowel / Tripod Leg quite well. When you attempt to mount to a Manfroto AutoPole with a 1.5” 1 1/2 “ larger diameter mount it will not be a solid mount and will pull off will a light pull. IPAD Device Holder> Very well deigned where a charging cable can be mounted and the device pulled in / out of the expansion holder without disconnecting the cable! Secure with larger rubber pads to grip the tablet. It even holds a BeastGrip Iphone case. Center Arm: The center arm is where the metal used has been skimped on. It likely will not wear out but the pressed metal, bolt and spring are where some costs were cut in production. The hand bolt is large enough to tighten and loosen. Of this style mount with a round ball and a threaded tightening mount that holds the Ipad Clamp to the Arm: This can be a bit difficult like all of them to loosen after tightening to the correct tension. VALUE: At price point is a normal valued item to get a large tablet holder and clamp. – Recommended for average mounting use like music stage, desk, light static filming. I think the whole assembly would not be proper design for mobile wild ride work to film while in an ATV or the like. Not for this use. Filming while in mount. Tablets will not have lens obstructed but the large size of the tablet spring mount is not conducive to reverse mount where the holder is covering the tablet viewing surface. Limited mounting for standard size phone in case to film while in the clamp. The lens will be obstructed by the mount unless you push it up for ¾ or ½ of the body of the phone is held in the tracks of the clamp. (Allowing you access to the screen.) If you reverse mount… Don’t plan on touching the monitor at all since the mount is large. Secondary Mount Option: On the body of the clamp is a 3/8” 16 thread size (Normal Ball Head Size for photography) female threaded mount. This can allow you to screw the clamp to a tripod or add a safety chain mount to the clamp assembly. Read more
This is the one you want I’ve tried everything else this one actually works. Make sure your stand has some weight to it though so it doesn’t bounce or tip it seems to work best with my metal stand vs my plastic ones. Read more
