It got here fast. I use this to start palm tree seeds in my grow room. They grow fast then I take them to my sister in Florida and she always ask what soil I am using. No smell. Good drainage. I think they got this mixture right for the specific plants listed on the bag. I'm an amateur. But the ease of use makes me feel like I know what I'm doing. It's nice to get a quality product. While well draining, will still hold too much moisture for many cacti and succulent species. Add perlite or other inorganic/mineral substrate for some species. Great on its own for jade plants. Read more
5/5. I used this mix for repotting succulents, a dwarf palm, and a small indoor lemon tree. The soil is light, drains well, and does not compact quickly, which helps prevent root rot. I noticed new root growth within a few weeks, and the plants look healthier compared to when I used standard potting soil. Other positives: Consistent texture with no large wood chunks Holds moisture without staying soggy Minimal odor, clean enough for indoor use Good value in the 2-pack (enough for multiple medium pots) One note: it dries out a little faster than regular potting soil, so watering frequency needs to be adjusted -- exactly what cactus and citrus prefer. This is great soil for your cacti and succulents. I bought this 2 pack because of the special and I liked having 2 smaller bags than one large one. The smaller bags are easier to handle and store. I hate trying to wrangle the bigger bags and don't like reaching way down into the largest bags to get a cup of soil. I used 1 bag while the other stayed sealed, fresh, and without the annoying gnats that find small openings to get into the larger bags if not tightly closed. The Miracle-Gro Cactus, Palm and Citrus Potting Mix, for Indoor or Outdoor Potted Plants, is a somewhat peaty soil in texture. It must be broken up a bit while potting at first, but it seems to retain moisture fairly well. The 2 pack was probably about quadruple what I actually needed for potting a christmas cactus in a 6.9 inch pot, but I thought I was going to be upgrading several plants. Miracle grow is typically good quality and this seems the same and had no major smells other than soil. It is easy to use, just a bit of easy breaking up the soil and then plant and water and the christmas cactus is very happy! Read more
