I already have a smart wall outlet in my hallway. When I bought that one, I thought it was compatible with Tuya / Smart Life (which I use for my many other WiFi Smart devices), but it turned out not to be - it's compatible with Kasa. But I found out only after installing it, so I decided to keep it (and it works fine). But when I bought one for my bedroom, I chose this one because it's compatible with Tuya / Smart Life. Very easy to install (neutral wire required). Took me about 5 mins, and that included walking to the panel to turn the breaker off, and then back on afterwards. The outlet was immediately recognized by the Tuya app. There are 3 LED lights, arranged vertically: the top & bottom indicate on/off status for the related socket (on = red; off = no illumination). The middle one is constantly on; switching the USB outlet on or off makes no difference, so I think it indicates "WiFi connected". But this is my one negative: It's very bright green, annoyingly so for someone who prefers a very dark bedroom. My workaround is to cover it with a piece of cardboard (see photo) but it'd be far better if the app allowed the user to turn off LED light display (which can be done with the Kasa wall outlet). Programmed with Smart Life app easily. Have been using for 3 years and have had absolutely no problems. Probably works with many other apps but I wouldn't know. However, It would be worth trying to find out for yourself. Read more
I bought this smart wall socket to replace the combination of USB adapter and smart plug to save space and make my room cleaner. The installation wasn't too bad, the unit was a little bigger than another smart outlet I have, but still manageable. I was able to get it setup using my Tuya app, and integrated into Home Assistant in very little time. I am using HA to turn off the USB-C when the wall tablet reaches a specific charge level, then turn the outlet back on at a lower battery charge level. Each outlet (2 - 3-prong, 1 - USB-A and 1-USB-C) outlets can be independently switched on/off. The real complaint I have about the unit is the AC plugs! They are near impossible to get a 3-way plug into! They're not only child-proof, but adult-proof! Read more
