You must take the silver cover plate off entirely. if you don't you have to be in the very middle, and no more than 2 inches from the surface, anywhere else and there's turbulence that would send dust away rather than catching it. With some testing, it's almost entirely the fault of the silver cover plate and removing it during use let's the fans and filter do their job. It's cheap, it's easy to use(plug in and turn dial), The noise overall is not bad, and it works pretty decently if you don't care about a "pretty" cover plate. Read more
