So, you want leak-proof performance, durability, and reasonable cost from a water bottle. Look no further. You can find all of those features in this narrow-mouth Nalgene water bottle. It doesn't hurt to have more quality than you will ever need. And this bottle has more durability than you will ever need unless you work for your city's police bomb disposal squad and you like to sip from your water bottle while removing high explosives. Rest assured your bottle can survive a bomb blast in case you have a bad day on the job. Okay, it won't be an open casket funeral, but at least your family can reuse your water bottle after you're gone. This bottle does not have a sip spout. Therefore, it is not ideal for car use as it is not designed for one-handed operation. This bottle is not insulated, therefore, it holds a large volume of water for its size. Unlike the wide-mouth version of the bottle, this one is not as easy to clean. And you will not be able to put ice cubes inside. What it does have in terms of advantages over the wide-mouth are that it is easier to drink from the bottle directly, and the smaller the lid/cap, the more resistant the bottle is to leaking. Drinking from the wide-mouth bottle can get messy. Not so with this narrow-mouth. And, you can put carbonated beverage inside the narrow-mouth, shake it to your heart's content, and it will not leak. This is the most leak-proof water container that I have ever owned. I suggest that you also purchase an insulating sleeve for your Nalgene bottle unless you like your drinks at room temperature. The best insulators are the ones made by Nalgene specifically for this bottle. However, the ones made by Outdoor Research are also very good. So, what color should you get? I suppose it doesn't matter if you only carry water. However, if you like to mix Kool-Aid, Tang, tea, or any other types of beverage, the clear color helps. If you're mixing grape juice, for example, it helps to be able to view the color of your mixture so you can adjust the strength or the concentration. In other words, you need to be able to see how dark the mixture is, so you can judge whether or not to add more powder. The clear bottle will help you do this. For mixing beverages, it is important to be able to ascertain the actual color of the liquid inside. The tinted versions of the bottle will prevent you from accurately judging the color of the beverage inside. Clean your bottle after each use. You do not want molds and mildews growing inside. It will not be as easy to get it out as it would be in the wide-mouth. It can be done, but you may have to use bleach. This is an excellent beverage bottle that will not ever let you down. Should you purchase this narrow-mouth Nalgene or the wide-mouth version of the same bottle? My pick would be the narrow-mouth, simply because it is much easier to drink straight out of the bottle. With the wide-mouth, you may want to carry a small drinking cup to avoid spilling your drink on yourself. The smaller mouth also mean a smaller cap, which means a better seal against leaks. The narrow neck of this version also allows the insulated bottle sleeves to grip the bottle better, even after their elastics have loosened. I have been using this style of Nalgene bottle for at least 6 or 7 years. I had three given to me back then. I would constantly rotate them in my usage. Well, 6 to 7 years into using them the bottoms of ALL THREE began to crack from the center injection nipple. This then caused them to begin leaking. I contacted Nalgene asking about any type of leak warranty. I found the response a bit comical. I was told to just consider the bottles as having lived a good long life (and basically they were not going to replace them). So here I found myself on Amazon to purchase a replacement (although I am going to need two more still). I am always on the go. I lift weights 6 days a week and always have a 32 oz narrow mouth with me. I jog 2½ miles round trip to and from the gym and carry the bottle in my hand. I constantly work on DIY projects at the house and keep my bottle filled with fluids to keep me hydrated. I keep one at the office and in a ten hour day attempt to drink three full bottles of water. And now, I have found this bottle to be the perfect companion to refilling our newly acquired Kuerig B60 (instead of removing the Keurig's water reservoir - it is much less cumbersome to bring the water to the machine) from the RO DI faucet in my house. So yes, I use them and run them through the test. So as far as durability goes I still think they are fantastic. I am bothered by the failure of my three bottles though. (And here is why). After receiving this new Nalgene bottle, it was EXTREMELY obvious the type of plastic used in the manufacturing of this bottle has changed. Maybe the ones made 7 years ago were not BPA free. The older ones do have the dreaded 7 (and no note of being BPA free like the new ones). But back to the point... The new bottles are softer, more pliable, and feel less brittle. Don't get me wrong - these are till very hard and sturdy bottles, but the older ones were definitely a harder type of plastic. And I am TOTALLY guessing this had something to do with the failure of the bottom of the bottles. Ahh, but who knows? Well, at least I have a new, fresh BPA free start. I would say the only perceived down side to these are the price. But I don't think it is a real down side. We live in a time when we want everything to be cheap. This often means we get low price and low quality. Well here is an item you pay good money for an almost bullet proof, long lasting, fluid reservoir. If you put your bottles through the usage I do, you will appreciate the durability of these. I may be a little hung up on having to buy new ones after many years of usage, but at least the first three were given to me. I think the plastic has changed in the bottles (now being BPA free) and maybe that means they will last 10 or more years now. Hopefully it doesn't make them NOT as durable. I think it deserves five stars (even if it lasts only 7 years) simply because I am confident there isn't a better bottle for the money. When I first ordered this I thought $10 for a water bottle? I know there are many much more expensive, but I guess I'm a little cheap. That being said, I wanted something large as I tend to guzzle water at the gym and a 16oz or 20oz bottle just doesn't cut it. After using this for the last week, I am completely in love with this bottle. While I know that sounds crazy, it was exactly what I needed and more. First it fits 32oz which is awesome, it doesn't leak even if you turn it upside down and any which way; and to make it even better, it has measurements on the side of the bottle. I like to use water enhancers a lot, so this is perfect. They normally are more for 8 or 16.9oz bottles, so I can figure out exactly how much I need. If you're looking for a quality water bottle to use at the home and the gym or wherever, consider getting one of these. It's great! Positives: -No leakage -Holds 32oz of water -Has measurements on the side -Top does not get lost or in the way and when closed serves as a handle -Extremely sturdy -No BPA according to the company Negatives: -It's really fat (measures 11.5" around) so it might not fit in a normal cupholder. That being said, pretty much any bottle that holds this much would be without being extremely tall (and who wants a water bottle as tall as you?). -You have to hold the bottle upwards quite a bit to get the last few sips out due to the way the mouth is made.
