The best thing about this stand from my perspective is the heavy solid metal base. My music room is carpeted and I’m forever tipping over my three legged thin metal stand. This thing isn’t going anywhere. Having the option to use it as a desktop stand is a nice extra for those who don’t already have one. I like that the stand top is pressure fit into either the desktop support or the telescoping pipe – it’s very secure and avoids threading that can strip over time. Having the angle screw clamp on the left side of the stand is a welcome surprise to this lefty (righties can appreciate what life is like for us southpaws). Maximum height to the top of the stand is about 58 inches. The stand is very solid at that height with no wobble. Removing the optional lower support pipe reduces that height by 18 inches. The support tray holds tight without noticeable droop – something I’ve struggled with on third party trays – I usually wind up modifying the clamp somehow, but this one holds well. I did notice the height adjusting twist lock needs to be fully tightened to avoid slippage. It holds but be sure to give it a full twist. I have a couple of issues with the wooden stand itself: The shelf is less than an inch wide, which is too narrow for multiple scores, my spiral notebook practice log and the occasional book I want there. Fortunately this stand is sturdy enough I can screw a wider shelf board over it. I like the narrow page springs, they’re plenty stiff and won’t obscure too much of the underlying page. But I wish the wooden stand were both a little taller and wider. Again I may wind up fashioning a large piece of thin birch plywood to add area. We got this for a music stand for playing guitar. The wood desk feels kind of like a lectern and it's very attractive, but it's not too heavy. It's the perfect size to use in our little music area without being in the way. The tray works perfectly to hold a phone or tablet etc. while still using the desk portion to hold a music book or printed pages. The base is pretty sturdy, though I it does give me a feeling like it wants to tip over since it's a touch top-heavy. It also can be removed from the stand and can put on an included back prop so it can be set on a table. A bit of a pet peeve, though, is that the little table top prop doesn't store on the desk anywhere. I have to find a place to stash it (which means I'll probably lose it or forget it exists). This is a great music stand - Came well packaged all the parts were there and no damage - The wooden music stand already had the table top stand led already assembled. It is very nice for if you want to use it on desk or kitchen table. - Has a nice heavy base with padding on it. The padding will help keep from scratching a wooden floor - Has plenty of height, to make it shorter remove the bottom pipe, but with both on it is perfect for when you stand and are playing an instrument or use it to hold notes for a presentation. - Has a nice tray (instructions call it a pallet) not very big but would be good to put a number of things on it, battery pack for a tablet, a book, other presentation notes, and a lot of other items. Not super strong but I bet it could hold 10-15 pounds without any issue. The tray attaches easily and it loosened up and tightened without any problems. - To change the table top leg out with the stand up version loosen the "wing" bolt that comes with it and with a sligh twist it disconnected and you can witch it out fairly easy. In conclusion - this is a very nice looking and capable music stand. The wood was nice looking and had a good finish, it is very adjustable for different environments, the tray add a nice storage area. It will be put to good use. Read more
