I think we have a case of a little bit of green washing here. Ok, the picks are made of corn starch, which requires a binding agent to keep their shape, but that binding agent is polypropilene (sp?), which is a plastic. so yes, maybe they're recyclable but they're still plastic and still require machinery to be processed. It would be better if they were fully compostable. With that said and aside from the environmental aspect of it, these are really good picks. They're sturdy and the floss doesn't break that easily, and its thin enough that it works fine for tight teeth. The pick part in the back is pointy enough that its greatly useful to reach difficult places. Read more
I've been using these for 2 or 3 years now and I am convinced they are the best on the market. I have never had a thread break or fray on one of these and most common brands do. The toothpick is super pokey and will stab your hand if you aren't careful 😂 BUT it's a good thing because it gets into small spaces between tight teeth. I wanted to find something more eco friendly and so far these are my favorite! They are better than the regular older non eco friendly brands that have been around forever. I hope they never stop making these! Read more
My only gripe is that the thread on these is not compostable. (I contacted the company and they verified that it is some type of polyester thread/stuff. I can't recall the exact composition). We love to toss everything into our compost, whenever possible, so now it's kind of a PITA to have to cut these threads off. The picks themselves are supposed to break down . . . eventually. That said, the picks hold up well and the curved end is really great for "picking" between one's teeth. My s.o. uses these flossers and has no problem with them. I can't really use them for my back teeth because those teeth have little space between them ----- and I have a couple crowns I'd rather not yank out (speaking from experience w/ floss and crowns). Our dentist has told me flossing won't pull off a crown, but since it has happened to me now --- twice --- he has amended that "won't" to "shouldn't" and told me that he thinks I clench my teeth. This clenching apparently is responsible for helping the crown to work loose. (Same one both times, over the course of three years, and ---- it's an expen$ive fix.) What a drag. I use silk floss for the back teeth now (always want to be able to compost!) but even that is problematic, as the damn floss keeps breaking. In conclusion: These picks are *almost* fully compostable. They hold up well. If you have tight spacing with your back teeth, they might be difficult to manipulate. Read more
I wanted to start flossing more in my nighttime routine but the string of floss from the dentist made it difficult and made me not want to do it. So I looked into the floss picks but all the plastic waste also made me steer away from it. This product was the perfect option and covered all the bases of easy to use, sustainable, and helped me want to floss more! Read more
I love that these dental glossers were packaged in small cardboard boxes. Each bathroom in the house has a box, and I don’t have to stress about the waste plastic. These are actually sturdier than the brands found in the store! Read more
I go through hundreds of flossers. I can’t get the dental care I need right now so I have heavily relied on these to help with my cracked tooth. Some other brands get stuck in my teeth or make my gums inflamed. Since I use so many I am grateful for a more eco friendly option to single use plastics!! Read more
