So far, so good with this castor oil. I searched rather extensively for a Jamaican Black Castor Oil product that I felt confident about its purity and organic nature, as that is my family's lifestyle, endeavoring to use holistic, organic/chemical-free products, foods, etc. The size is a good value for the price in my view. It's packaged in a dark amber glass bottle with a pump included, which is also my preference over plastic bottles. This oil is very thick and viscous, it has an herbal/medicinal smell and freshness, just as castor oil should. The color is also quite dark amber-ish brown, compared to regular castor oil - I've read that is from the increased ash content which thereby increases its medicinal qualities. The oil dispenses easily from the bottle/pump, no leaking or dripping, and it applies to the skin nicely -- bearing in mind how thick this oil is, and that it takes an hour or so to fully absorb into the skin (in my experience with it, based upon the amount I typically apply). I use this for my facial skin to boost moisturization, layered on top of my other serums as a last step. I believe it does aid in reducing fine lines because of the intense moisturization - when used regularly as a skincare staple. The thick viscosity does make it naturally more occlusive than other biological oils like Jojoba for instance, so that is to be considered for those with acne-prone skin. I also use this as a hot oil treatment on my hair, as well as my stomach/back with a heating pad...I find it really boosts my digestion and I just enjoy the treatment. I have been using it for a week. Looking for positive results. The smoke scent is not very strong and doesn't seem to last too long after use. I'm using it on my scalp, forehead, and around my eyes. The oil is thick, and it moisturizes through the night. A little goes a long way. It washes out easily with shampooing. My hair feels rich and soft with good body after shampoo and conditioner - more than without it. The color of the oil is a clear bronze. The glass bottle is nice. The pump works well, but I had to hold the plastic under the lid tightly to get the spout to twist and unlock; otherwise, it rotated the tube without releasing. So far, so good. Read more
