These come disassembled. I had some difficulty separating the magnetic bases which were all stuck together quite tightly. These hooks can hold 80 pounds and they took some strength to pry apart. Screwing in the the hooks was simple and I tested one on the side of the fridge. It stuck quite strongly and I hung some heavy metal tools on it and the hook did not budge at all. We will be taking these on cruise trips (most have metal doors and many have metal walls) to add some extra storage. I did tape some thin cardboard to the magnetic base to keep them separated so I don't have to play tug of war again to pull them apart. These are very strong magnets. This is perfect if you want the hook in a semi-permanent location but if you want to move it on occasion it can be a challenge. It is difficult to remove it from a strong steel surface. There is also the possibility of marring the surface when you remove it. But if you want a strong hook to hang heavy items, this will work great. Read more
