Yes it's petroleum based and therefore my BF cringes to see me hoik it out of my camping pack. However, my old HS pal Jana Duhme (now married to somebody but I never met so dont remember her proper last name) has been doing significant research on health issues at SNU and assures us that mixing this stuff with tumeric will cure just wbout whatever ails you, if used topically. Plus it doesn't stain my white or ivory clothes and linens as much as the much touted on FB version of coconut oil and tumeric paste does (which is certainly food grade). Since nobody makes a profit from this reasearch except SNU, it will take a long time before the general public finds out. Meantime, I and other HS GFs have been field-testing it on zits, wrinkles, cuts, burns, dermabrasions, bone infections (in large amounts) bug bites, traumatic injuries of all kids, and other hazards of modern life, and comparing notes via IMs. Works like a charm. But I still don't use chapstick or other petroleum-based products unless it's to lubricate metal or something for which it was designed to be used. Human skin it feels great on, until it leaves you more chapped than before. The tumeric cuts that qualtiy out of the equation. So thankful I made an A in colllege chemistry. Read more
