This curling iron works great on my thin, fine hair and leaves behind shiny curls that actually hold. The iron is easy to maneuver, but the buttons on it are placed in a way where you can accidently change the settings during use. I also think that the instructions provided were very unclear and I had a hard time knowing what heat setting I was using since they are not labeled. I like to use the lowest amount of heat possible so I could love to know exactly what temperature my iron heats up to. Additionally, the first couple of times I used this the iron smelled like it was burning which put me off from using it for quite a while. This Paul Mitchell Neuro Curling Iron is fantastic! I know it is on the pricey side, but at least it looks and feels high quality, so the price feels justified in my opinion. I use some very cheap curling irons as well and I appreciate certain aspects of those ones as well, but this one stands out to me. First of all: SO HAPPY THIS HAS A CLAMP TO IT!!! Seriously. It is so annoying the "modern" curling irons that you are just supposed to wrap your hair around and hold it yourself using a heat-resistant glove. I just find myself never wanting to use that style when it comes to curling my hair. This one- so natural to use, just clamp it on the end of the hair, roll up and you are good to go! I will take a curling iron with a nice long clamp on it (traditional style) every day over those ones requiring gloves. Second of all, the settings on this are great, and the instruction guide clarifies what temperature is appropriate for your unique texture of hair. I've never seen or realized that hair texture determines the temperature setting you should choose. There are 6 different temperature settings corresponding to hair textures. The highest setting they say is "for professional use only!" I appreciate them stating that because I don't want to fry my hair by accident! I'm sure there is a reason a professional might use such a high setting, for me, I'm supposed to be down towards the lowest setting anyhow apparently. Third: And this is the fascinating bit (and maybe what I should have started with...) it makes the most interesting sounds as it works!! I've never heard anything like it, and it gives me confidence that the design and function of this curling iron, truly is different than most. On the instructions, I was so relieved that they wrote: "If you hear a faint buzzing sound when using this iron, please do not be alarmed. The ionic pins as releasing the ions onto your hair for smooth, frizz-free styling." And you CAN hear the pins moving. It is absolutely so intriguing to me!!! Fourth, and also unique to this iron as best I can tell, it has a tension dial setting that you set to "loose" if you have fine hair, or "tight" if you have coarse hair. I'm not sure what it actually changing there with the iron, but I trust that it does do something. Not sure how I would be able to tell for sure though. Fifth, and finally I like that the curling iron has a memory of whatever you selected to use temperature-wise on your hair and so when you plug it in to use again it leaps to do whatever is the proper setting for your hair. So nice!!! I thought the waves and body this gave my fine hair was very nice, so good results as well with this curling iron. I thought that with the barrel size, it makes great "beachy waves" sort of a look, Not hugely tight curls. It just is exactly everything I was hoping it would be, and more. The picture I've posted is of my daughter's hair after curling a few strands of her hair while using this curling iron. Results are based on technique and setting. You have to unwind it a specific way to create a good curl. The key feature that sets this curling iron apart from others is the NeutraHeat technology. This allows for even heat regulation, along with delivering frizz free results. There is no doubt that this curling iron displays the qualities of a professional curling iron, but it's not my favorite. I found it more difficult creating curls as opposed to my regular curling iron. Again, it's all in the way you unwind it, well, at least that's what I've discovered. I'm in no way a professional stylist, but I've used a plethora of styling tools to know the difference. While using this tool, you can hear a faint crackling/sizzling sound, which are the neutralizing ions going to work to promote the frizz free curls. You will also see the release of steam through the vents of the wand while curling, this is also part of the ionizing process. There are a few favorable options on this curling iron that make it unique, such as the tension dial, which allows you to choose the type of curl that is best suited for your hair type. The 1 hour autoshut off is a nice feature and a must-have for someone like me who often forgets to shut off my styling tools. Like most curling irons, this one offers various heat settings. The selected temperature should coordinate with your hair type. The instruction manual provides a guide for determining which options work best with your hair type. This is an incredible curling iron! When I have it in my hand it just feels like quality! My favorite thing is the tension dial which is easy to use and works great. Additionally, I love that it is ceramic as well which I think is why it glides right through my hair and give it a glossy look. This iron also gives very consistent heat. There are even little details in which it excels, like the swivel cord or the fact it is dual-voltage for travel. This curling iron feels like it built extremely well and will work for a long time!
