Surprisingly pretty amazing in sun and rain on the water and hiking. No regrets.
Got this originally on a bit of a lark, didn't have a lot of hope it would be great. Boy was I surprised. My plan had been to use for kayaking to keep the sun off, tried wearing it hiking in the southwest (Big Bend) and have to say it's incredible. Any kind of southwest dessert hiking. Unlike a regular hat there's a breeze across the top of your head, and the shadow on both your head and shoulders makes a heck of a lot more difference than I would have guessed. And yes it works great for kayaking too as planned through the southwest, florida, and even in the northeast on those sunnier days. Also does actually do great in the rain. With the chin strap it can handle a decent breeze. Only downsides is the metal supports from the band have sharp edges so you need to be careful not to slice your hands. It's comfortable enough considering how light it is. But I would happily pay a little bit of a premium for a fancier deluxe headband. (Manufacturer take note please!) Read more
