The first shipment of this Portal charger was unfortunately missing the magnetic charging connector, so I had to request a replacement from Amazon. Upon receiving the second, and seeing the connector is just loose in the box, that's something I think anyone buying this should be aware of (make sure you find it and pull it out!) and feedback for the manufacturer (maybe put it in its own compartment or bag?). This trouble aside, this dock charges the Portal very well, and eliminates both a loose cable and the Portal just lying around on the arm of a couch or something. I love the PlayStation Portal, but charging it has been a hassle. This dock goes a long way to make it a more enjoyable user experience. With and without a silicone case on it, the dock and the Portal work well together. The dock is relatively small, but it works well. Definitely a must-buy for Portal owners. Read more

The PSPortal Charging Stand is a nice touch for easy and convenient charging. The stand itself is sturdy and does not give any indication of tipping over when the Portal is on it. There is a small plastic charging dongle that plugs into the Portal itself, so when you set the Portal on the stand, the dongle connects automatically to the stand for charging. There is also a light band around the bottom of the stand where you can select a color for style. I picked the PlayStation Blue color to match the Portal. Now, if you are the kind of player that likes to plug in and charge while still playing, this dock is not for you. With the dongle attached to the Portal, you cannot just plug in another charger without taking it out. Which isn’t hard, but this is more for taking a break from gaming while the Portal charges. I almost took a star off my review, but I did not think it was worth a full star penalty. The dongle itself has a design for easy grip to plug in and remove from the Portal, but the edges of it are just a little too wide, that it will not fit into the Portal with a standard hard shell case on. Personally, I was not about to take my case off just so I could have easier charging. I also didn’t want to ruin the integrity of my case by cutting a notch out of it. Instead I shaved off a weeeeeee little tiny small chunk of the dongle so that it wouldn’t clip with my case and I could use them both at the same time. Personally, it didn’t give me any issues after doing so, but I wouldn’t recommend it because who knows what that’ll do to any warranty on the stand. The manufacturers should take into consideration the conflict with Portal cases in their next iteration of this device design. I ordered this charging station for my ps portal because the description says it would fit cases with a kickstand, which is what I have for my ps portal. I even have the same exact one the is shown in the pictures that is supposed to be compatible with the charging station, but it still doesn’t fit. Part of the kickstand blocks part of the adapter that plugs into the usb c slot. If you have a different type of case or no case at all, this is a pretty decent choice. It’s got the fancy lights and the magnetic adapter for easy docking, but don’t be fooled like me into thinking that this can accommodate cases with a fold out kickstand. It won’t fit. Read more
