This is a review of the NewlineNY Auto Step-On Super Mini Travel Scale. I bought green. Monitors do differ, of course, but the color I got was exactly the color I expected. I was looking for a small portable scale to use in my tiny bathroom, but didn’t need one more thing to take up room. It’s awesome. It occupies virtually no space and I can pick it up with one hand and tuck it away on a shelf when I’m not using it. Frankly, I now don’t understand why regular scales are as big and bulky as they are. It’s easy to use. You don’t have to worry about looking down to see your weight while on the scale. Just look for the green light. Your weight stays visible when you step off. And the numbers are big and clear. It is consistent and accurate. If I step off, move the scale around and step on again, I’m getting the same readings. Standing on the small platform isn’t a problem for me. But you do have to be comfortable with your feet hanging over the edges. So maybe it takes a minute to get used to it? If you have a medical issue affecting balance you might want something a little larger, however, just for the feeling of security. I have no plans to travel with it, but I absolutely can tell it would be very easy to pack, even in a carry-on. Read more

Awesome scale, awesome seller. The seller shipped two hours (REALLY!) after I placed my order on Amazon, and shipped priority without any extra charge.so it ARRIVED IN TWO DAYS. It came in a flat rate envelope, so of course I thought it was some papers.... HA HA, I forgot how skinny and small it is! I loved it immediately, just as I hoped. It's so fun that its tiny, the easier scale to use ever, and that it gives me pounds down to tenths.(You can swith it to kg.) And it's very fast, unless I am wobbly. (I have a back injury and sometimes lean on a counter too long...). At first I wasn't sure it was going to be consistent, and maybe the first day it wasn't, or maybe having a scale that reads to four places I forgot the huge numerical difference drinking a glass of water has, or putting on a sweater, or eating. Or maybe it had to settle in. Or I had to discover a flat place, rather than random among the varying tiles. I believe I get consistent readings 90% of the time, and when I get an outlier, I have usually gotten it on a not-so-flat spot on the floor. Sometimes I check a few times. But I trust it enough now that usually I take the first reading and that's it. Except that it's so fun, i come back later, try it with and without shoes, etc. I love it when something is JUST what you wanted! One tiny thing worried me at first but was not a problem. The box said to pull the portruding battery protector tab out but I saw none sticking out of the battery compartment. I opened the compartment and there it was inside. I pulled it out and the scale woke up. I put a bit of tape on the tab, and taped it inside the (tiny) shipping box. That's so, when I need to store the scale, I can put the tab back in. I don't think I would actually travel with it without putting the tab in to save the battery. Maybe taping it on the bottom of the scale would have been even better-- it would already be in place to be used whenever its going to have all-day weight on it, such as in a suitcase or stored with other stuff. I've been disappointed with a lot of mail order items lately. THIS one however, is fantastic. TEN STARS. UPDATE: I have been meaning to update this for some time and finally got to the computer lab. I am still very happy with this scale, however, the need for multiple step-on's and off's is real. The first reading is ALWAYS off by several pounds. I get consistency usually around the third or fourth, but not always. I stop there and take that (unless wholly unexpected) rather than keep at it. And it doesn't read to tenths, really, it reads to "two tenths," that is, the tenths digit is always an even number, to my recollection. I now read it to the nearest pound, and am very happy with that. But most of the "ten stars," and still great satisfaction with it, is really my delight at speedy delivery, the wonderful compactness, the look and easy readability of it, and NOT it's on spot accuracy in the moment - that last thing is missing. I chose this scale specifically for its small size and no-frills nature and I have been pleased with it's quality and accuracy. That said, this certainly isn't the right scale for everyone. If you have particularly large feet or difficulties with balancing then this scale will be more of a hassle than a convenience. To get an idea of the size fold a piece of printer paper in half horizontally (hamburger-style as they said in kindergarten!), place it on the ground, and try to stand on it without any part of your feet touching the ground around it. If you aren't completely balanced or you haven't placed it on an entirely hard and flat surface then your weight will jump around and the green light indicating a correct weight will not come on. It took a bit of practice at first, but it's not too hard to adapt too. Once you get over the balancing issues, this scale is great. It's small size means I can push it into the bathroom corner, store it in a cabinet drawer, or take it with me on trips with no hassle. I've checked my weight on other scales compared to this one and have seen consistently accurate readings. Measuring my weight multiple times in a row has always resulted in identical values except for when the scale was resting on an uneven floor board (and obviously that would be an issue for any digital scale). The color is a bit odd - a sort of just barely green-tinged off white - but tolerable, and otherwise it looks clean and modern. The display is large and easy to read and the light indicating an accurate measure makes it easy to use. I also very much appreciated that it came with batteries included, and after months of use I haven't had to replace them. Read more
