You read that right. I have travel shorts from The North Face, Patagonia and Vuori and these are hands down more comfortable than any of these top tier brands. These appear to be made out of a rip stop material but are extremely lightweight and offer plenty of flex. The main pockets are mesh and the cargo like pockets are secured with high quality zippers. The waist is nice and think but also flexible so the shorts do a good job of hugging the waist but don't limit mobility. Northyard is a good budget friendly brand that is available on Amazon but budget does not mean cheap and these are far from cheap. I have run in these, gone shopping in these and chased my three year old on his balance bike with these and have never felt like these were any cheaper than higher priced shorts. These are great hiking shorts at a great price. My husband hasn’t always liked dri fit or performance fabric, so I have avoided buying it for him. But he has started to like the very lightweight performance workout shirts because they do wick moisture and can feel almost weightless. I love wearing performance pants ( I call them golf pants) when we hike, so I decided to get him these performance fabric hiking cargo shorts. He loves cargo shorts. I got him the extra large, his regular size, and these fit true to size. They are great for where we normally hike as it often rains and we often see water falls. His only complaint is that he doesn’t like the button closure at the waist. He would prefer just an elastic waist all around. Read more
I ordered these shorts to add to my summer workout collection. When it comes to clothes, I am a stickler for comfort and quality and these shorts definitely hit the mark on both of those. The shorts are very comfortable and do not bind like some cargo shorts that I have bought in the past. These shorts if you get a goodect fit will be easy to wear (based on my own experience I found these to be true to size). They are very comfortable to wear all day, they are very stylish and match well with a complimentary outfit, and the hardware (zippers etc.) make daily use a no brainer'. I'm confident you'll really like them as much as I do. Do yourself a favor and order a pair! Read more
If you live in a warmer climate, shorts are a staple in your wardrobe collection. However, when things really get hot, certain materials can still feel too heavy for the weather, especially in more humid climates. These hiking shorts are made of a very lightweight and breathable material, ensuring they remain cool and comfortable in all conditions. They feature a stretch wasteband, to provide the flexibility you need when walking, hiking or bending over. There is also a small plastic clip on the front right belt loop, to securely attach a keychain, compass or anything else you may need. There are two traditional upper pockets, along with two zippered pockets, providing ample storage. My only two gripes are as follows: 1. There is no back pocket for a wallet. This may not be an issue for you. 2. Although I ordered a large, based on their size chart, they still needed to be stretched a little bit, to button them up. You may want consider ordering one size up from what you normally would. These small issues aside, they are a nice quality and comfortable pair of shorts for all of your summer activities. Read more
These feel like typical polyester quick dry material. They are lightweight and have that typical polyester material that makes a swoosh noise when it rubs together. They do seem to ride up a lot more than cotton shorts do when you sit. They are easy to slide on even without unbuttoning, there's just enough stretch on the sides to pull them up and so far they stay up. These were great to use on a warm sunny day doing yard work but would also be good for anything else outdoors. I prefer cotton shorts for everyday comfort but for outdoor utility pants or being near water these work great and have a nice look to them. Read more
This is a review of the NORTHYARD Men's Hiking Cargo Shorts 9" Lightweight Outdoor Summer Shorts Quick Dry with 4 Pockets for Tactical Fishing Travel: I ordered these shorts in the blue color, size small for my adult son. He typically wears a 30” waist, and the size chart suggested a small is 30”-32”. Based on how they fit my son, I would say these shorts are true to the size chart. The blue color is not quite as bright as what is shown in photos online, but very close. I actually prefer the color in real, as they work as a nice neutral. There are four utility pockets on the shorts. The material is quick-dry, water-resistant and a nice light weight for warm weather. Although these are designed to be utilitarian clothing, they are stylish in appearance. Read more
These are great shorts for my husband! The fabric is lightweight, repels water and rain and dries quickly. The rip stop polyester fabric has reenforced stitching and is durable enough for the most demanding trails and sports. The 2 zippered pockets are large enough for your phone and other things like snacks and other essentials. You can even hang things from the D ring to keep your hands free. Although these shorts are very durable and rough and tumble the most action they will see is fishing on my husbands boat. Although I could tell he felt pretty manly in them! lol. Recommend! Read more
The material and build are solid, and the cargo pockets actually work - but the style feels a bit busy. If you like extra storage, the pockets are generous and the fit is comfortable, but the bulk around the sides makes them look chunky. The rest of the short is fine. The waist sits right and the fabric feels good, so it’s mostly a style choice. If you want function over looks, they do the job. Read more
