A Smart and Versatile Part Of Your Emergency Car Kit
The media could not be loaded. I was in the market for a battery-powered air compressor for my Bronco and discovered this Novsight unit. Not only is it a portable air compressor, but it also has a built in jump starter and a flash light, making it a lot more versatile. I'm actually familiar with the Novsight brand, since I use their off-road auxiliary lights on my truck as well (see video). There's also a very convenient inflator/deflator for air mattresses if you want to take this camping. The entire ensemble comes in a nice, hard-shell carrying case with a pouch for the accessories (see the unboxing portion of the video). My unit came fully charged and was ready to go. I used it to inflate my tires from 34 to 38 psi and it took approximately three minutes to conclude. I do have big, heavy-duty tires on my Bronco, so that may have something to do with it. The flashlight is quite bright and has different modes, including fast blinking and morse code SOS signals. I hope to never have to use the jump starter, but it comes with very competent cables with quality springs and copper connections. It contains a 6000A jump starter which they claim will bring 12V vehicles back to life "up to 50 times per charge" and has an operating temperature range of -4°F to 140°F. Cold weather is when you certain want to have battery backup and since I spend a lot of time skiing, this was a feature that checked an important box. Battery life is surprisingly good. It came fully charged and after four car tires, two bicycle tires, two motorcycle tires and inflating an air mattress, it still says it has a full charge. Nice! The small size makes it also viable to use on a motorcycle, if you're planning a long road trip that will take you off the beaten path. It also makes it easy to stash in a glove box or trunk. There are comparable models available that have similar features, but at a slightly lower price when I was considering this purchase. However, Novsight is a brand that has delivered for me in the past and spending a handful of extra dollars for peace of mind is worth every penny. The functionality of the unit is typical for something made overseas. There are some things that aren't quite intuitive, but the manual is good enough to get you through anything that may not immediately make sense. The build quality is robust, but this isn't something you'd want to drop on a roadway, so keep it in its protective case when not in use. I do like that Novsight added a thick rubber ring to the air hose attachment, since it can get quite hot during prolonged usage. This is something that other manufacturers don't include, so that's a nice bonus. The Novsight has a lot of pros, making it a very flexible and versatile unit as part of your emergency car kit.
