My daughter's BMW X1 needed a jump on Friday night in a busy downtown area where she was parallel parked. We had to block traffic to jumpstart her battery the traditional way with the big clunky jumper cables. It was a hassle. The next morning, the battery was dead again. But on Friday I'd ordered the Weego 44S and we got it Saturday morning. It was fully charged within an hour. It's super easy to use. You connect the lightweight, compact jumper cables to charging device...attach the black (-) to the grounding post, the red (+) to the red...and within about 60 seconds, she was able to start the car and drive it to the local garage to get a new battery. I bought this product almost 3 years ago. I charged it one time when it first came in, put it in the car, and didn't touch it again until this week. This week, I'm moving to a new house across the country, so I'm running around all over town and wrapping up all the little things before we start driving across the country. I loaded up the car to take to donations, got in the car and tried to start it, only to find out that the 12v battery in my EV (Hyundai Ioniq 5) had died. I vaguely remembered I had bought this Weego jump starter a while back, so I pulled it out, saw it had half a charge, and gave it a shot to jump start the EV. It IMMEDIATELY started the car and I was able to run my errand. Later that night, I went to go do another errand, only to find the car had died again. Weego jumped the car and saved me again. Overnight, I brought the Weego jump starter in to make sure it was fully charged. When I went out in the morning, the car was dead. Weego to the rescue again... ... and again and again and again and again and again. Seriously, I have jump started the car at least a half-dozen times in the past 3 days using this Weego jump starter until I can get a new battery in the car. Very easy to use and thoughtfully designed. It stores neatly in its own case, so it’s easy to keep organized in the car without cables or clamps floating around. My wife has a bad habit of leaving the interior light on, so we ended up jump-starting her battery more than once. This handled it easily. We’ve also used it on camping trips to charge phones, which made it even more useful. It worked well enough that I bought a second one to keep in my own car full time. Don't be fooled by the Wirecutter review. Although their product evaluations are for the most part dependable, that's not the case here. Purchased two, one for each car, at $60 each, seemed like a good deal. Upon receipt the unit seemed rather small and the clamps toy like. On the first occasion to use it it did not work on a Honda Pilot and as suspected the clamps did not readily attach to the terminals. It was fully charged but the green light never came on, bypass mode also failed. A helpful gas station attendant had something beefier in their car and that did work. So both are being returned and at some point I'll purchase a more serious unit. Read more
