I would not go without this supplement. Our bodies need it and we cannot produce it. It strengthens your immune system as well as many other health benefits. I use to get cold sores all the time and terrible colds all the time, as long as I don't get to lazy in taking it everyday, it helps tremendously in keeping them away. A few yrs ago, had gotten shingles, which is nothing you want to experience. It was after that, that I started taking L-Lysine. As soon as I would feel that little tingles and pokes from the shingles trying to come back, I would take a couple, and the symptoms would stop. I haven't felt anything related to shingles since then. It works excellent for me. If I had any health issues I would definitely check with doctor first.
