Purchased a few years ago to protect my floor after my chair scratched it up a bunch. Today its still intact and doing its job. It has begun to wear down some but I imagine it could still go another 2 or 3 years before truly falling apart. It has an adhesive on the bottom but I chose not to peel the layer sealing it off and just use it as a normal mat and there's been no issues from doing this. The bottom has some kind of plastic/nylon layer which then makes it sound like you're chair is on a nest of crinkling plastic bags.
