Extra special, block of wood transforms when powered up.

K2FVJanuary 7, 2026

There are two different designs like this that I know of. One is like a lighter color of wood and the other similar to black laminate wood. It's been my privilege to compare and review both. Very nice build quality. In each case the received items are well represented by the sellers ad photos. Each unit is like a block of wood until powered up, then the magic happens. Electronically they share( as far as I can tell) identical electronics. Has many features including some only found on more expensive clocks. Agree in principle with the sellers ad copy and have posted it below for your reference: Elegant Wooden Design with Large, Bold Numbers: OhM-ega digital alarm clock features a sleek wood-grain finish with large bold numbers for easy viewing, even from across the room. A stylish addition to bedrooms, nightstands, offices, or dorm rooms. Extra-Loud Alarm for Heavy Sleepers: Built with a powerful loud alarm to help heavy sleepers wake up on time. A nice balance between style and function.

We All Are OneJanuary 7, 2026

This wooden‑finish digital alarm clock is now one of my favorite bedside gadgets. What I love Stealthy look – The digital display is hidden behind a sleek wood panel, so the clock looks like a simple piece of décor rather than a blinking gadget. It blends right in with the rest of the room. Huge numbers – The time and temperature are shown in big, easy‑to‑read digits. Even from across the room I can see the time without squinting. Brightness dimmer – From 6 PM to 7 AM the display automatically dims, but I can still fine‑tune the brightness to exactly where I like it. It’s perfect for those late‑night reads without the glow waking me up. Sound‑activated display – When the room is dark the screen goes completely off, giving me a pitch‑black environment for sleep. A clap, a voice, or a tap on the top of the clock brings the numbers back instantly—no need to fumble for a button. Battery backup – The clock keeps running on its internal battery if the power goes out, so my time, alarm, and all the custom settings stay exactly where I left them. Built‑in USB ports – Two USB outlets on the back let me charge my phone and a small MP3 player (or smartwatch) without hunting for another charger. On the flip side, the sound sensor can be a little sensitive; a cough sometimes wakes the display but will turn off again in a few seconds. All in all, this clock nails the balance between style and function. It looks like a piece of furniture, tells the time (and temperature) clearly, and the dimmer, sound‑activated display, battery backup, and USB ports make it genuinely useful. I'm pretty happy with it. Read more

Nice-looking all-black wood grain digital clock with two USB ports has a few issues

Garry C.December 31, 2025

I am a sucker for digital clocks and I can't seem to get enough of them, and especially ones that have a temperature reading. I ordered this one in particular because of the two USB ports in the back and because I liked the look of the all-black wooden finish. The clock came well protected in a plain brown box with a clear large foldout manual all in English. The adapter that plugs into the wall is quite small and the cord is 5 ft. long. Once I got to setting up the clock, the first thing I noticed was that the button cell battery was not keeping the settings when I unplugged it and plugged it back in. I tested the battery to make sure it was not dead (I've had that happen once before). Unfortunately the circular twist open covering for the battery sometimes does not sit completely flush with the back of the clock. Every time I put the battery in, it would beep, but the problem was getting the cover to twist back on and stay down flat. I recommend using a nickel to twist it on and off, but it was not easy, and it took me literally over 10 times of trying to put the battery in, slightly bending the pins inside, and putting the cover back on before the clock would finally retain the display settings when I unplugged it and plugged it back in. So be aware that you may have to struggle with getting the backup button battery to sit just right in the back of the clock when you twist the cover back on, and be sure you test unplugging the clock after you put the battery in. Setting time, date, alarm and other settings is pretty straightforward once you understand which of the three buttons in the back to press for what, and for how long. You adjust most of the settings with an adjustment wheel in the back along with the Enter button which made it much quicker to set up than other clocks. You use the adjustment wheel without any other buttons to vary the brightness of the display which in the manual they claim has 6 levels, but I could only detect 4 levels. One interesting feature is Auto Night Dim which is "automatic dimming from 6 PM to 7 AM to reduce glare at night for a more sleep-friendly bedroom." I turned the adjustment wheel all the way up to level 4, and it seemed to work when it became 6 PM, knocking the brightness of the display down to level 3. It has a rather unique "Voice control" feature which leaves the display dark unless it detects a sound, at which point the display turns on for 10 seconds at a time. I found this feature to work very well, as clapping, yelling at it, or even snapping my fingers from a few feet away turned the display on. If the clock ran off batteries I could see the benefit of turning off the display, but as it needs AC power I felt like this was more of a gimmick than anything else. One of the areas where the manual is not so clear is in the dP-1 and dP-2 display modes. dP-1 mode switches back and forth between the year, month and day on the right hand side for 3 seconds, and the alarm time and temperature for 10 seconds. dP-2 mode displays the alarm time and the temperature on the right side of the display all the time. I wish there was an option to display the year month and day all the time, but there isn't. For some reason the accuracy of the temperature display is directly affected by the brightness of the display. I set the clock next to my most accurate weather station, and with the display brightness turned all the way up, the temperature reading on the clock was higher than the weather station by as much as 4 to 5.5 degrees. With the display brightness turned all the way down to level 1, it was very accurate and within .2 degrees of my weather station. When set on level 3 of brightness, one step below the brightest setting, it was high by only about 1 to 1.5 degrees. Turning the alarm on and off is done by a simple switch in the back. At first I thought the "Extra-Loud Alarm for Heavy Sleepers" claim in the listing was bogus, as it wasn't very loud when I first activated the alarm, however there is another setting NOT mentioned anywhere in the manual where if you hold down the Alarm button for more than a second you can choose between 3 volume levels, (it is on level 1 by default) and level 3 is quite loud. The snooze button on top suspends the alarm for 9 minutes, can be used up to 5 times before it is deactivated, and the minutes for the snooze feature can not be adjusted. You can also turn off the alarm by pressing any one of the buttons in the back twice, but I found it much easier to reach behind the clock for the alarm switch which is slightly raised and easier to find quickly, and use it to turn off the alarm if I didn't want to use snooze on top. I can't really give it 5 stars because of the finicky battery compartment and inaccurate temperature readings at higher brightness display levels, but if you understand its limitations and are going to use the 2 USB ports in the back, I can see this being a nice looking addition to your bed stand with a sufficiently loud alarm to wake you in the morning.
