I absolutely loved everything about this bar soap sans the scent. I haven't been able to fully identify the scent but I am not a fan of it. It is a medium noted scent but I can't narrow it down to a major grouping (e.g., earthy, citrus, floral, etc.). LOVES --> I loved the amount of lather I got from the soap. I do use mesh soap bags so that I can hang dry my soap after use. It was a nice and rich lather. It rinsed off well and you didn't feel like residuals were left behind/deposited on your skin. My skin felt very nice and clean after using it. If I would have liked the scent...this would have been a 5 of 5 star bar of soap in my eyes. I really wish I could better narrow down a scent group to help others out. I was expecting a hint of coconut with the coconut oil but I didn't smell. I'm not sure what I expected when I ordered this because I'm not sure what rattlesnake oil should do for my skin. It sounded a little dangerous and I have to admit that I was intrigued. It turns out that it's only soap. It's a decent soap that lathers fine (not the best lather) and cleans well (seems pretty clean), but the scent is a bit too earthy for me. Another reviewer mentioned that it smells like bell peppers and they're right. There's a hint of something else in there, but mostly green peppers. Thankfully it doesn't linger. I don't dig the fragrance myself, but my son thinks this stuff is great, so I'll let him finish this off. Ultimately this is a fine soap that cleans your body. The smell is not for everyone (certainly not for me), but if you like the earthiness of fresh bell peppers then this might be your cup of tea. Read more

Be cautious when ordering this. I love the scent, but it's not for everyone. My husband does not, he likes more clean/fresh scents while I like more earthy/warm scents. It's hard to describe what this 'rattlesnake oil' smells like... peppery, earthy, kind of 'sharp'. The soap itself is fine, it's soap! It lathers okay, though took me a while to get it going on the first use. And it seems to clean the body fine. Personally, I usually don't love bar soap because I feel like it leaves a residue on my skin. I didn't especially notice a filmy feeling after using this one compared to other bar soaps. It didn't dry out my skin the way other bar soaps tend to do. Overall, I think it's a good value. I probably wouldn't buy again for personal use because my husband didn't like the scent, but it'd be a unique little stocking stuffer or small gift for someone. Read more

I make my own soap but am always up for trying something new. I don’t like that there is unnatural coloring and fragrance; they could color this with other things and leave it without fragrance. But the smell is very subtle and I’m sensitive to smells. It’s pleasant; almost smells like turmeric, maybe. This soap lathered easily and I didn’t need to re-lather the washcloth a second time to finish my shower. This is a hard bar of soap so should last a while. I like that the box gives pertinent information but doesn’t muddy up the box with useless wording or unnecessary Skimbosh type jibber jabber. Read more

The only reason I ordered it is that I got curious about the soap. A "rattlesnake soap"?! At 5.29 oz., this is bigger than the standard size soap. The scent is hard to describe; it's not particularly unpleasant, but it's also not first appealing. The scent may not be to everyone's taste, but I eventually warmed up to it. It is a smell that belongs to the shower. The soap has good ingredients and feels luxurious on skin. I initially used it on my body, but I thought to limit its use on my face, as it gives a luxurious experience. It also makes good lather. I didn't get any negative reaction from it.
