Like several others who have purchased this watch, this is my first mechanical watch; my first "real" classy watch. At around $130 bucks, this is an absolute value. To save review readers some time, I'll just say that if you're looking for an inexpensive, entry-level automatic watch and are considering buying this, just buy it right now. You will be very glad you did. As far as appearance goes, I cannot believe how stunning this watch is to look at. The pictures and videos you see of it all over the place cannot begin to capture it's elegance. It's not a directly WHITE face; it's more like a light cream/off-white color that looks absolutely brilliant. The mesmerizing sweep of the second hand is hypnotic in its beauty; you can feel the craftsmanship that went into it. It keeps quite accurate time as well; it uses an in-house Japanese movement, which is a big plus for a watch at this price range. The other thing is that due to its simplicity and its sparing of too many complications, the watch is incredibly easy to read quickly; there are some beautiful watches out there with lots of complications that make it difficult to quickly acquire the time; I didn't think that mattered much to me until I got this watch. Being able to tell the time IMMEDIATELY upon looking at the watch seems like it would be obvious, but with many watches, this is not the case. Friends of mine who are serious watch collectors confirmed my purchase as one of the very best entry-level automatic watches that you can buy. Seiko's SARB065 aka "Cocktail Time" or basically any other SARB also falls into a great entry level watch category; but if you want something that looks incredibly elegant, and functions and looks like a higher-priced watch. Definitely worth getting this; makes for a great daily dress watch for the office; I am using the band that came with it, and it works great with a business/smart casual look. Read more

This is my first mechanical watch, actually my first watch in a decade since I started using my phone for the time. But occasionally I want to leave my phone behind, so thought it useful to have a watch as well. A full wind lasts about 40 hours, but it is also wound through just wearing it. However, as I often do not wear it, it means when I do take it out of the drawer I need to wind it and set the time. For this reason a quatz battery watch may have been a better choice in this scenario. However this is no fault of this particular watch. This watch is beautiful, and the best thing is that it is suitable for both casual and formal outfits. Its simplicity is timeless and will never go out of fashion. The other thing worth noting is the that date needs to be manually again for any month that is not 30 days long. Again, not a limitation of this watch in particular, but still annoying. Keeps excellent time. It has an almost inaudible ticking sound. I was worried about the ticking as I value silence highly, but you cannot hear this watch unless it is next to your ear. If you are looking for an automatic mechanical watch, that is stylish, looks good with any outfit, and high quality on a budget, get this watch. If you are not going to wear it all the time, just be aware you will have to reset the time when you want to wear it. And personally I am not even going to bother with the date - to much hassle with little pay off. Read more

The media could not be loaded. This is my fourth automatic Orient watch that I have bought over the years and my first dress watch. This watch oozes vintage charm and old-school school class. The dial is not pure white but a more off-white which photos do not do it justice. The markers remind me of the old Hamilton dress watch that my dad used to wear along with the narrow sharp pointed hands. The domed crystal with the slight distortion at the angle adds to the vintage look of this timepiece. I initially was going to purchase the one with the subdial at the six o’clock position but this one was cheaper and more vintage looking. Like others have mentioned, the leather band is very stiff upon receiving it, I ended up bending it and twisting it to loosen up and I’m sure with regular wear it will loosen up on its own. it is a nice dark brown chocolate color which I may replace down the road for something not as flashy, but for now it looks very nice and complements the gold tone markers and hand. Like others have mentioned it probably could be a little bit smaller but on my 7” + wrist it looks fine. In my opinion Orient is a very undervalued watch that delivers outstanding value for its price point… Get yourself one now , You’ll be glad you did Read more

Update: Went a day without wearing it and it consistently runs at least 5 seconds fast per day no matter what I do. Its good that it runs fast, since you can just stop the watch by pulling out the dial, then push it back in when a few seconds have passed. As I said in the title, this watch is really nice to look at. The only reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is due to the 6 seconds of time gained in a day. I was hoping for maybe 3 seconds or less. I did wind it and sleep with it on. Tonight I'll try sleeping without it and see if that helps lower the time gain. I'll update this if there is any change in how it keeps time. It's automatic, so it'll wind itself, but you can wind it by turning the knob on the side. (When you move your wrist and listen close, you can hear it winding itself.) At first I had trouble getting it to let me change the date, but with a bit of messing with it, I got it to work. (But the date only goes in one direction, so if you need to set it to the 1st and it's the 2nd, you gotta go all the way around. The ticking is super quiet, but if you put your ear directly to the watch you can hear it. Overall I really do enjoy this watch, and that it's mechanical and automatic. The thought that batteries are in no way involved really adds to how interesting this watch is. Read more
