My husband's office is his work truck. He does lots of driving throughout the day and he never knows where he will show up. Sometimes it's hard for him to find good food, so he usually carries his own food. I was looking for something that he could use in his car or in our RV when vacationing and I think that I may have found something useful. This rice cooker is amazing. I tested it in our car. I added seasoned rice and water and in less than 20 minutes I had perfectly cooked rice. This little cooker makes up to four cups of rice. It also comes with a metal tray where you can add protein that you can cook if in tiny pieces together with your rice. Or at the very least you can keep that protein warm. My husband is going to try to use it for oatmeal too. If you are on the go, this is a perfect little device. Doesn't take much to clean, as it has a non-stick finish. It's actually really nice. A *tad* bit annoying that in order for me to use it at work, I need an appropriate adapter, which was about an extra $20. But it's definitely more than given it's money's worth. My favorite thing to prepare in it, is using the included measuring cup, half a cup of lentils, and half a cup of rice. If you follow the measurements, it's very easy to operate. Harder types of beans like dry kidney beans or black beans are not ideal, which...this is a *rice* cooker, I just wanted some beans to go with it. But it *really* works with lentils. This 12v rice cooker is perfect. I live full time in a cab over camper that I have been converting to be completely self sufficient. I cook a lot of rice as it's easy and delicious. This cooker allows me to set and forget the rice while I cook other things for my meals. Almost started on fire in my Travel Trailer. While cooking some rice I started to smell wires burning so I unplugged quickly. The plug and cord were very hot. After removing I noticed that the positive connector pin was no longer sticking out. I disassembled and found that the spring under the fuse showed signs of high heat and had shrunk to about have its size. Don't know why the fuse did not blow but it shows signs of arching similar to the fuse holder. It did make good rice the previous 4 times I used it, but I won't be using it anymore. Read more
