This is a great, well-thought-out, simple, effective sharpener! If you're not a knife nut, but you want to keep your knives sharp, something like this is a great choice. It's simple and small. You can stow it in the kitchen junk drawer, a tackle box, a pocket, backpack, or a desk drawer. Several thoughtful things struck me as showing that this company has the customer as their first priority. This is not just a plastic widget with some metal and ceramic thing-ies glued in place. It has grippy rubber feet that keep it from sliding all over. It has a twist-turn base that gives four points of contact and greatly stabilizes the whole operation. It has a rubbery finger grip so you can easily hold it in place. The two slots are labelled so you know which to use first and second. They've even used a screw-in-place panel for the sharpening inserts so you can reverse the inserts when they get worn and less effective. All of this in a small package shows that they've put a lot of customer oriented forethought into this item. If you are a knife nut, you can buy steels, strops, stropping goo, diamond hones, sharpening stones, ceramic rods, elaborate sharpening systems with arms and clamps, or even powered multi-grit mini-belt sanders for hundreds of dollars. If you're a knife nut, those things will make you as happy as a pig in cool mud on a hot day. (And empty your wallet.) But this little guy will get you 90% that far, which means amply sharp for all of us normal knife users. So I am well satisfied and more than happy to highly recommend this little sharpener. Well done! Read more

This thing I’ll tell you what I was getting discouraged of the outdoor knives because the blades were so expensive buying this you can reuse those blades multiple times the quality, the instructions and the sharpness of the blade when you’re done you will not regret this Read more

Overall it works pretty good for the price. While you aren't going to get factory like edges on your Benchmades or Spydercos (what did you expect for ~$10 USD? =P), it works nicely on that EDC cheapo knife you toss around and let get beat up. I used this on my SANRENMU Knife and sharpens it good enough to use on boxes, packages, and simple cutting things. I like the grippy section but I can imagine if your hands are big or small enough it would be a bit awkward for some; I wouldn't say this is a deal breaker but something to consider especially if you are a little clumsy. Pros: - Easy to use, and good use out of it. I'd say for ~$10 USD, it was worth it. - It's like a sharpener for dummies. Personally, I'm not good at keeping the angle good if you give me a sharpening block or stick I will fail horribly and probably make the blade much more dull than it was before I attempted to 'sharpen' it. - Has a Carbide side and a ceramic side. (Warning of Carbide side use! See cons!!) - Very portable. Can pretty much fit in any pocket if you wanted to bring it to you out into the wilderness. Cons: - Grippy section isn't too great and distracts a little (Not too big of a Con, just me wanting to be picky about aesthetics). - Carbide section can take off a lot of metal off your blade. CutleryLover (mentioned below) says this also, so just a heads up. I wish there was a little info about this or some way to inform the consumer. - Wish it came with instructions for the newbies. We all need a little direction sometimes. Side Note: For the newbies or anyone with an interest in knife care reading this: Check out CutleryLover on YouTube, he can point you in the right direction on all your knife questions and needs. He has a video called: Knife Sharpener Review : Lansky "Blade Medic" that would tell you everything you need to know about a product very similar to this. Other thoughts: In general, I would recommend this for just about anyone who owns and uses knives. Unless you're a pro user with your whole kit of 10,000+ grit whetstone, or ceramic rods; you probably don't need this, unless you want it for the portability. Overall, it is a great product. Just be aware of carbide side usage, especially on knives you value. Read more
