Disclaimer I returned this unit. You can get it for less cost and already programmed elsewhere. The unit itself isn't all bad. The display is too dim for outside. It needs to be programmed. But if you want a portable unit that can receive on other bands like emergency air, and fire etc. This radio can do it. It cannot transmit on those other bands only the HAM bands. It's a line of sight walkie talkie so you're not going to talk to people very far away unless you're near a repeater. I would recommend if purchased already programmed. There so many bands/frequencies to program in manually. Read more
I'm totally happy with this product. The only thing that would make it better would be if it came with the 3200mah battery. Read more
It has big screen but completely on readable outside for intended use better off with btech radio Read more

This is an older radio now days. I have owned and used for five years or so. I have used it as a Repeater without difficulty and it is excellent, though a bit large, for what it is. Baofengs are much smaller and entirely satisfactory under most circumstances. Nevertheless, this is an outstanding radio. No complaints about battery life or programming - get the cable and download Chirp onto your laptop and easily program this radio. At current prices it's a bargain analog FM radio. Read more
Radio does everything I want it to do at a reasonable price. But If I fully charge the battery or the spare I bought the battery seems to drop even though I haven't used the radio. In a week I might lose almost 1/5 of the charge. Seems odd. But otherwise great radio. It doesn't make any sense - if the radio is powered off it shouldn't be using any power. Its obviously not powering memories since they are still there after battery is completely dead and changed or charged. So why the power drain? It really is a nice radio - I wish they would send out a firmware update that would fix the battery drain. Read more
