This julienne peeler is great for making zucchini noodles. The blades are very sharp, as they should be, so I keep my fingers well away from them. To wash, I use a scrub brush and then air dry. The small size makes it convenient for storage, too. If you grow zucchini, here is a tip: Let your zucchini grow a little too big (marrow size) if you want to use it for zoodles. That way, the zucchini will be easier to hold while keeping your fingers out of the way of the julienne peeler blades. Also, you will have more flesh to work with (as opposed to seedy core) and longer length zoodles. Read more
Review for: OXO Good Grips Julienne Peeler Among the Julienne peelers out there, this is a pretty great one. Stainless steel blade, dishwasher safe, works great, several well-designed safety features built-in. For those not familiar with the term Julienne, this means the strips it makes are skinny width-wise not just skinny thickness-wise regular peelers offer. This is an easy way to add skinny carrot strips to a salad, for example. The only negative I can think of is that I'm so used to a side movement for peeling it seems kind of odd and unfamiliar to peel this way. SAFETY: -------- (1) BLADE GUARD The blade guard is heavy duty. It swings down and stays solidly in place and comes off easily when pushed without slippage. It doesn't just slide on and off, it has stickiness at both the on and off positions. (2) HAND GUARD This peeler is shaped in such a way as to help dissuade the entire hand or fingers from slipping down the handle closer to the blade. (3) GRIPPY WHERE FINGERS LAND The handle doesn't just rely on a grippy/rubbery surface to hold the fingers in place on the handle, there are grooves created by flexible fins in the grip of the handle that add more grip for the fingers. Notes: - There has been some disagreement out there about the size of this item. The actual size is 4.75" long. It has a 3" wide front, 2" of which is the blade. - BPA Free Read more
I do lots of salads at my house and I've been looking for a quicker solution for cutting veggies in a julienne cut. I tried this on carrots, cucumbers, and zucchini and it worked very well leaving little waste. I did try this on a lemon (to see if I could get a strip for a cocktail) and it 100% did not work, I cut my hand lol. Only use on firm veggies! Make sure you grip the veggie and pull away from you for safety. I wouldn't recommend children use this tool, it's tricky for little ones. Pretty easy to clean and this definitely saves me time in the kitchen. Much safer than a mandoline slicer and wayyy cheaper/easier than a food processor. Overall, I highly recommend it! Read more
Excellent quality peeler. I bought it for the shredding feature so that I could make Asian coleslaw much easier. Works great! Read more

Okay, here's the deal, I like carrots, and I like to work them into my meals in a convenient non intrusive way. Ie.. a lot of carrot in little tiny shreds. I can use a Nakari knife and work them down, but GEEZ takes too long! (Carrots are dang well tough) So I went on quest of sorts, how many times could I make UPS show up at my house within the same week; lol, and this was one of the products I tried of four. MIU France Stainless Steel Swiss Peeler, Julienne Blade http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ISKZYQ/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Ultra Sharp Julienne Peeler & Vegetable Peeler - Precision Kitchenware http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FF75XG4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 & Brieftons Spiral Slicer (I used and left a review of this product) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CBVCVLM/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Now, this is the SECOND product I have used, in my attempt to get carrots into shreds. Ultra Sharp above and MIU France I still have in the packaging. I am going to keep them around just in case. Anyways, this oxo worked so well, I actually smiled when I first used it, especially after my frustrating nightmare experience with that Spiral Slicer. The oxo Julienne peeler has worked as intended, I didn't apply much pressure at all, the blade was really sharp and dug into the carrot, going long ways obviously, with no issues what so ever, and it shredded what I sliced with no issues. Now because of the way things work.. the very top tip portion that I cut off the carrot, was not shredded, but it was a very small section and actually worked in my favor. Little carrot strands didn't end up everywhere. I had tried a regular Oxo peeler in the past on whim, and I've had it for years now literally, and its always worked great, so that led me to give this product a shot. And it didn't disappoint. (Another reviewer mentioned how companies would change manufactures/suppliers, so keep this in mind) One thing I wanted to mention that you might want to be on guard about, are the teeth for this food tool are very thin. They are about 8th of an inch distance wide. STRONG ADVICE: So like a knife you that was sharp and you wanted to keep it that way, you need to clear a space out in your kitchen somewhere for this tool, because I can only imagine if you bent the teeth on this thing or dull it by abuse, that'll be all she wrote on functional tool. And it looks like it would be easy to do. So just a heads up. Read more
There is a guard for the blade that is pretty easy to figure out. The new item will also have a piece of transparent blue sticky tape. This should be removed (don't ask)... Amazed how well this works, on zucchini at least. Picked my first batch and took no time to julienne five. Much safer than a mandoline, which I've always wanted but know I should not buy. I need all of all my fingers. Read more
