It's a versatile utensil because it folds, and because you can take it apart. It's less cumbersome than a flat grater (although you can use it as one), and much easier to clean than a box grater. The rubber feet also work well, and it's easy to store, folded. It's a good product. Read more

This replaces the same model grater we’ve had for a decade. The plastic frame on the old one cracked. This appears to be the same model, and hopefully the same quality. If my opinion changes, I’ll revise this review… Read more

This is my second purchase of this grater. The first one I bought at a grocery store while traveling. I loved it, used it almost every day. The recent purchase replaces the first which eventually cracked and broke in half. This newer grater has some improved features with the feet and the ability to take it apart for cleaning. Dishwasher gets it spotless or you can hand wash with a brush. I love it—fits your hand at the top and does not slide when using. The feet could use more design improvement but overall still the best cheese grater I’ve ever used. No mess and no extra parts to clean that you often have with fancier graters. Read more

Sturdier than expected. Rubber bottom helps stabilize and can adjust the width of the stance. Nice top handle also helps stabilize. Can straddle a bowl. Like the slide out panels - easy to clean just the one side you used. Takes up much less space - can store this one in a drawer vs cabinet. Shreds about the same as other graters, otherwise. This is an alternative to a box grater which lays flat in most any drawer. For my needs, this is awesome. Pros: OXO Good Grips quality. For those who don't know, OXO started out from the idea that a rubber bicycle grip is more comfortable to the hand than the hard metal or plastic most places use, so OXO tries to make everything a little more ergonomic. The same applies here - the top knob is a big, easy to use rubberized grip. Folds flat. When folded, I believe the unit is under 2" thick, meaning it will fit in almost any drawer. When in use, you can either keep it laid flat (say for doing a quick zest of a lemon) or open it and stand it up (if you need to shred some carrots). Two levels of grating. The blades are set at a medium-large size, and a small size. It doesn't slice, it doesn't do wavy cut, just 2 sets of holes. Easy to clean. Since it's just two surfaces and it opens up, it's easier than a normal box grater to clean. Cons: Not as sturdy or large as a normal box grater. For a 2-person household, or for only occasional use, this grater performs well. If you have 4 or more people and you need to use the grater all the time, you'll want to spring for the box version. You can tell this unit is just overall flimsier and smaller than a full grater. It feels like it will stand up to years of light usage, but if I had to shred 10 pounds of potatoes, I would dread only having this around. Overall: All I really need this grater for is to occasionally shred some carrots for 2 people, and similar-size jobs. Having this grater handy right in the drawer means I'm much more likely to use it, rather than rummaging around in a cabinet for a large and (relatively) hard to clean box grater. This suits my needs perfectly. Recommended. Read more

Works great and takes up very little space. This cheese grater is a solid replacement to the last one I owned. It cuts great and is definitely adequately sharp to get the job done. Read more

This is one of the rare OXO products that fell short of expectations. The design was good. It is an upside down "V" and is easier to clean than a box grater. The problem is the materials used in the manufacturing of the product. The first sign was that the joint that the top separated during use. It was not broken but because it is designed to separate into to parts, pressure applied to the grater during use will cause it to separate into two parts while you're grating. The white plastic is a hard plastic but is too thin to resist pressure. There are two plastic "feet" on the bottom that are easily broken if one is not careful. While grating a potato, the plastic cracked around the metal grater surface making the grater no longer usable. Read more

I’ve been using these graters now for several months, and they are terrific! They come as one unit, but can be separated easily into two pieces, which I have done. They nestle together so that even separated, they actually take up less space in storage. The blades are sharp, and have remained sharp on both the course and fine greater sides. I’ve grated vegetables, soft and hard cheeses, and frozen ginger root, and all have come out exactly as you would expect: nice, individual grated pieces. These are easy to hold, and have short feet that keep the grater up off of the surface you are grating onto. I would happily buy these again. Read more
