Concentrated “Ultra” Palmolive, Powered with Oxy, for Tough Jobs at Commercial Kitchens.

JayAugust 9, 2023

How this arrived? The four (4) pack of massive (145oz), which is gallon+ sized plastic bottles arrived sealed in a commercial, rather than retail, type heavy-duty cardboard packaging. The dimensions were roughly 17” x 12” x 12” and weighed in just about (40) pounds! The Palmolive brand name was on the packaging, along with some very basic information. Inside? Inside that packaging were four (4) single gallon+ sized, grease fighting bottles of dishwashing soap; the bottles are large heavy-duty, durable (over-sized dishwashing liquid) styled bottles that contained (145) ounces of the dishwashing soap, powered by Oxy. There was no SDS literature packed within the packaging. Weight? Each bottle weighed in at about (10) pounds. Size? Each bottle is “about” 12” x 7” x 5” in size. Quantity per bottle? 4.27 liters / 1.13 gallon / 145 fluid ounces of liquid detergent. Background? I use stainless steel cookware that does not have non-stick surfaced. So, cleaning is always a chore, enough so to consider using non-stick cookware. But I avoid. Hence, my creations, which include hot and cold foods, sauces, and such, a lot of dishes, pots, and pans are used in my creative process. This carries over to the dishware and utensils that the consumers of my creations use to tackle my presentation. The dishware and utensils used typically do not get attended to until much later, therefore, all the food residues can be dried, thick, and crusty. So, all of this equates into another time-consuming cleaning job, which I do by hand, although I have mechanical dishwashing capabilities. I just think handwashing is the way to go. Therefore, I buy a lot of dishwashing liquid. Enter Palmolive To tackle all the above tough jobs, I need a dishwashing liquid that meets the stuck-on food challenge; this is concentrated, so this has more power per drop, and to economize and to use less. This iteration of Ultra Palmolive Professional powered by Oxy is a liquid detergent that has grease cleaning power that I need and appreciate. Jobs tackled? This detergent is used on some of my toughest and ugliest kitchen and non-kitchen jobs. Baked on, caked on, fried on greasy messes; whether from sauces, mayonnaises; mustards; butter; jellies; creamy mashed potatoes; baked beans, ketchup; Bar-B-Que sauces, chocolate icing; dried egg yolks and more. And all these food residues were either on my pots, frying pans, skillets, silverware, serving utensils, baking trays, containers, serving trays, plates, plastic items, and you name it. Prep and soaking time? Using hot water, I just added about one (1) ounce of this detergent for about (10) gallons of water. If I was going to tackle some heavy-duty jobs, then I doubled the quantity. I have literally seen the grease floating in water scatter as I dropped in this detergent. I then let whatever needs a good soaking, soak for several minutes, or more (depending how on how dried and crusty whatever it is that I must clean). Results? Caked on messes are softened, cutting down elbow grease time. Thoughts Caked on grease starts dissolving away, to the point it can wash away, prior to intense scrubbing. I estimate a time savings that is around half the time it would normally take to clean up. Oxy makes a positive difference. Uses? Only limited to by my imagination. For instance, this works in other settings, inside or outside the kitchen. I spilled oil on concrete. This helped wash it away, before that oil soaked in and stained the concrete. I literally poured this on, waited, and washed the oil away using water and a broom. Is this perfect? No, there is an ingredient of concern, this has SLES. SLS & SLES, we do not care for it There are two (2) ingredients I prefer to not have in the family soaps. First, let’s look at sodium “lauryl” sulfate (SLS) a chemical that's commonly used in soaps, shampoos, and shower gels as a surfactant – think foaming agent for creating lots of suds; and second, let’s look at sodium “laureth” sulfate (SLES), which is said to be a slightly less harsh version of SLS, which is in this. These chemicals are typically made from petroleum. However, such ingredients can be plant based. Right to make informed decisions Okay. But does it still have SLES? Yes, this does. Read the label (the listing did post these ingredients, so I “am” not going to take a star away, as this was disclosed, and it allowed consumers to have choices and be informed. Even if this is plant derived SLS/SLES does that make that any better? The reader needs to decide. However, of note is the recent trend of “green sheen.” Does plant based make a difference? Set us free from SLES Many people demand a wash that is free from SLS/SLES, whether petroleum based or otherwise (plant-based). This is not free from SLES. Aroma There is no accounting for taste, or aroma. Some in the family like the original scent better. I did not find this objectionable and thought it pleasant. The value? Considering how many are received, and their sizes, this is bargain to mid-level priced for the market. Viscosity It’s a tad on the thicker side. Think of honey viscosity. Color Blue Lather Better than the average liquid dishwashing soap (hello, SLES). Value The more I selected, the less expensive per ounce this was. Plus, overall, this has great value, when considering its cleaning ability. The time savings alone makes this so worth it. Three step cleaning process I followed the three (3) step cleaning process of (1) Soak & Wash & thoroughly rinse with clean potable water; (2) Sanitize; and (3) air dry. Country of origin USA. Warnings: Do not get in the eyes. See your medical provider if there are concerns for using this. I hope my thoughts added useful information. Read more

Concentrate and very effective

Frank GJuly 26, 2023

This is by far the best cleaning agent I have used. This is a concentrate and according to directions for general cleaning you would use 1 ounce for 10 gallons of cleaner fluid. For pre-soaking heavily soiled pans that had baked on or heavily soiled items and grease use 1/2 ounce per gallon and for general surface cleaning its 6 drops per 24 ounces. Each container is 165 ounces and there are 4 in the case. This should last quite a long time. The scent is pleasant and the suds do not make dishes so slippery that you could drop them. While using it for after dinner dishes the suds lasted and the items were cleaned easily. You may feel the mix is light and watery and therefore not work well compared to the thicker products on the market but you would be wrong. This concentrate when mixed properly even cleaned the burnt and discolored bottom of many of my aluminum pots. I used the product along with a scrubbing sponge. I am very happy with this product and will continue to use it going forward. Read more

The media could not be loaded. It washes dishes clean. It's the only product that rivals dawn. Too bad it came with one of the leaking out. Read more

Great value if you use the right amount

John CobbinSeptember 9, 2023

These bottles are huge, I was expecting gallon sized not gallon+ 145oz of concentrated soap is great, I won't have to buy anything a few years. Especially when you times it by 4 I even use one for my laundry outside area. The cap is standard size so I was able to put it under my sink with the dispenser. Dispenser pumps out about 1.5-2ml (so I have a few thousand pumps before I run out) and that is enough for small dishes or I go up to 4-5 pumps for a lot. It works really good when you let items soak. I will put a few pumps in hot water and put put some of my slippery-to-the-touch items in and when I come back all I do is rinse them off (I do "wash" many things, but it feels that way sometimes) and they have a squeaky clean finish. Kitchen photo is after 2 months of use / outside was used for large oil stain and greasy rags and compare size to the large detergent bottles Read more

Great quality….and a great quantity

expatbritSeptember 3, 2023

No household really needs 4.5 gallons of dish soap, but I couldn’t resist. This might be gone quickly in a restaurant, but for the average family, this will last for years. Luckily, the liquid is thick, smells good, and is very effective, a definite improvement over the store brand I was using before. It works really well for soaking greasy pans - with really hot water, it lifts away much quicker than expected, and with less scrubbing than I expected. I think the ‘oxy’ part of this soap is the magic responsible for the cleaning power. Perhaps the only downside is finding somewhere to store the massive bottles, and I’m also hoping that the liquid doesn’t have a shelf life, because this will be around for some time. First image shows that a refill of a 32oz bottle barely made a dent in the level….. Read more

sparkly clean!

Omri RanSeptember 7, 2023

An excellent liquid dishwash soap! It cleans very very well and you only need a few drops as it is very concentrated. Worked well for soaking pots and pans and for other cleaning around the house. You receive four handy very large bottles, and the price is higher than the average dish soap I usually get in the grocery store, but as it is concentrated a smaller amount is used. It works so well and last long so overall it is good value. - lovely scent - concentrated - trusted brand - excellent cleaning power - great for small businesses or households HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I hope you find this review helpful! :) Read more
