PanaVise PortaGrip Phone Holder with Telescoping Windshield Mount

Absolutely the best. Living in Chicago and leaving my car street parked outside, I’ve always had trouble with phone dash/windshield mounts in the summer or winter. Some would lose suction when the windshield gets freezing cold in the winter, and some would literally melt from the hot glass in the summer. I’ve finally found one that sticks to the glass through it all. I’ve also had trouble with the phone clamp on other models. Many lose their “click” in certain temperatures and some lose the spring open feature over time meaning you have to pry the phone out. This one feels incredibly heavy duty and I haven’t had any issues with it at all. It’s very easy to place and clamp the phone in with one hand as well as take it out too. I’ve yet to have the phone fall out of it. It’s a bonus that the overall build quality and adjustability is excellent too. It’s also highly customizable through parts that can be purchased through the Panavise website. This is great if you are in need of a more custom configuration or would like to mount something other than a phone. Modularity also means you won’t need to replace the whole thing if one piece breaks. Pair that with its lifetime warranty and you’ve got a real winner here. As others have mentioned, the arm will rest against your dash and could potentially scratch your dash over time. If you care to protect your dash, it’s not a bad idea to stick something to the bottom of the arm where it touches the dash. Adhesive velcro, a rubber-band, furniture pads, rubber feet, or gluing a piece of felt or rubber to the arm would all be great options. My iPhone 14+ fits perfect in the holder. I did have to take my phone out of the otter box cover for it to fit and I knew this before ordering. It fits my Honda HRV 2019 just as expected. I attached it to lower portion of windshield , adjusted the arm and have NO obstruction of my view while driving. I have searched for months for this type of holder. Had great reviews. I’ve had this phone holder in two cars and have owned it a little over two years now. It’s still working like a champ! The arm is metal and gets hot in the sun, but it does what it’s supposed to do most excellently. The piece that actually holds the phone is plastic, and it has worn some, but it’s still working as it was designed to do and hasn’t broken yet! I use this everyday when driving (to keep my phone in a spot to see it easily while driving), and I’m amazed at how well it’s held up. The plastic locks (that lock the length of the arm in place) work well and I’ve never had an issue with it coming loose or falling off the windshield. It’s worth every penny! Read more

We ordered this back in March 2015 and we've been using it since. It is by far the best ever phone mount that we have used. We drive a big rig and so it's important that our phone is within reach and hands-free operation. The jarring that a big rig takes is significant, due to poor road conditions all over the United States. The unit is heavy and we've counteracted this by having the arm resting on the dash. Every other mount that we've had has broken and compared to this beauty, they were very poorly made. The only problem we've had with the unit is the side grips have started to fail (keep in mind that we are using this unit continually, and often remove and replace our phones - depending upon who is driving - multiple times per day. However, since this unit has a lifetime warranty, I am sure that we will either get another unit or replacement parts for the side grips. By far the best unit you could buy. Update - We've now had the mount just over two years. We have never had an issue with it coming off of the windshield. The weight of the arm started to wear into our dash, we counteracted that with a piece of foam pipe insulation. The only issue that we have is that we would like the arm to extend out further allowing for easier access to the phone while driving our big rig. Although it will fit our iPhone 6S+, on rough roads the phone will slide out - the arms and bottom feet are really not deep enough to hold the 6S+ that is in an Otter box case. We wish the company would make a bigger cradle. The side arm holders for the phone had to be taped into place to stop them from moving and sliding down. If you clamp the phone too tight, one of the side arms will pop out. However, unlike other cradles where if anything happens to the side arms your phone mount is toast. With this unit the side arms will snap back in place, as they are meant to flex. Read more

I purchased this mount back in 2019 to replace another brand that kept having issues with the suction cup piece breaking down and leaving a heavy sticky residue on my windshield. This mount has been rock solid for the full time that I have used it and still continues to function normally 5+ years later. The rubber suction cup does not breakdown and I have only had to remount it 3 times in these past 5 years. It continues to hold regardless of the temperatures outside or in the car. I've had this for 10 years. It still functions great and holds my phone where I need it. I will say: be careful how close you let it sit to your dash. Depending on how low you mount it, it can sag just a little bit and move around a bit while in motion, enough to scratch up the dash if it makes contact. I learned this the hard way and now have a small spot that has been scratched up on the dash of my 2002 Explorer Sport Trac (can be seen in the attached photo).
