Very cool kit. Heavy (I like heavy), sturdy, classy. The brush can be placed upright wherever you like if you don't like hanging it on the stand. The blade itself is really nice: well built and the razors fit very securely. I will be upgrading eventually as i covet a concave blade but this is a great starter blade. By the time you are through with half of the spare blades a beginner should be comfortable enough with a straight razor to invest in a high quality blade. This can definitely be your permanent straight razor, The only downfall is that I personally cannot attain an extremely close shave with it. Read more

This stainless base is Excellent and the raiser is decent. I prefer chrome and stainless as this makes clean up easier and looks great on my bathroom counter, which is the reason I made this purchase. The placement of the blade in this raiser exposes less of the blade than my other raisers, which makes for a safer cut for someone transitioning from the multi-blade of disposable world. I upgraded to silvertip badger brush as I prefer the performance​ of this type of brush. The best part of this transaction was the customer service. A mistake was made in my order in that I received the wrong base. "Super Saver Raisers", which is an actual company, picked up on the second ring when I called and immediately shipped a replacement. This order was fulfilled by Amazon and technically they didn't need to do this, but they put the customer first. They will get more of my business. Read more

My husband has been wanting a straight razor since before our wedding in 2014. He fell in love with this ram horn handle one we saw at the art of shaving, but it came with quite the price tag and that was just for the razor. I bought him this kit for Christmas, just so he could test it out and see if he really wanted to use a straight razor on a frequent basis. He is extremely happy with it and glad that I made this small investment as he gets used to using the straight razor method. The stand is very sturdy and holds the razor and brush quite well. To say that the blade guard (the part it folds into) is cheap plastic is putting it lightly. Min was not centered and part of it was already cracking when I opened the box. The stainless blade arm is a very nice and solid stainless steel. This item is also not refundable, so now I'm stuck with a very poorly made and defective out of the box item. Thanks Amazon, I've now thrown the razor portion of my purchase in the garbage, because that's what this model is, and have ordered the SRX version (all stainless steel) from another outlet. I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband. I asked how many stars he would give this and he said 5. This is his first straight razor, so he has had a bit of a learning curve on perfecting his shave. It is a very nice looking set, just as the picture shows. There are plenty of razors, and everything was new and shiny when I opened the box. My husband loves it and said it was one of the best gifts I have ever gotten him. Read more

I am very impressed with the look and feel of this set. The badger bristle is especially heavy and is a very solid item, but the hair on it is somewhat messy/unorganized. Looking at this setup on my bathroom sink would impress anyone. As a female who is sensitive to cheap razors and multiple blade razors, I have decided to go the straight razor route shaving my underarms. In other words, I'm not messing around here because my underarms are prone to bumps with normal drugstore razors. I'm not really sure what to expect from the razor itself, but it did render a very close shave. One thing that annoys me slightly is the super tiny blade. The straight razor clips are a bit hard to pull apart in order to put the small shark blade in there. I'm wondering if I could possibly find a thicker and longer blade for this razor? In other words, I'm not impressed with the blades it comes with. The price of the set is quite hefty, and maybe a lather bowl would make it worth the price with it all put together. I'd give the shark blades a C-. As for the razor itself, it's nice except for the frustrating manipulation to get the blade attached. Read more
