Fit is great. The material is very soft and effective at keeping you warm. You can wear it with the mask up or down, hood up or just around your neck. All variations are comfortable. This balaclava is everything it should be. It's soft and comfortable. The neck is not constricting. The hood is large enough that if the wind is harsh or the snow is blowing hard, I can pretty much pull it over my whole face. I woke up a few days ago to an unexpected amount of snow and below zero Fahrenheit temperatures. I had to go out and clear my driveway, which took over two hours. I didn't even realize how well this balaclava protected me until I got back inside. As I was taking off all of my outerwear, I suddenly realized that my face, head and neck weren't even cold. Normally I come in and have to stay by the fireplace to warm up, but this time I didn't. If you suffer the cold like me, you definitely need this balaclava. Read more
I got this for my daughter to wear when she takes our dog for a walk on the chilly winter mornings. We live in Missouri so winners get very cold and we just got this new puppy last summer and my daughter loves taking her for a walk. Received this item for free via the Amazon Vine program. What a great piece of clothing! A furry hood whenever you need the extra warmth, if like me you only have coats without built-in hoods. Lightweight but durable and easy to wash. Has mouth cover that can be lowered if you get too warm. Hood can be tightened with the drawstring. Love the color and feel, and it fits perfectly without being suffocating or too large. Got this for my husband, who has a rather large head and doesn't quite fit into any of the generic winter beanies around our house. He pulled it on, and it fits like a glove! The mask part stays up on its own (unlike some I've had, where it keeps falling and sagging) and covers a good amount of the nose without creeping up to the eyes. The hood seems like it will stay in place even during high winds, and won't get blown back off his head. I like the drawstring; the ends are capped in plastic so it won't unravel, and the sliding clasps are pretty decent quality for holding the drawstring tight. I think it would be even better if the facemask part had an inner liner fabric that wasn't the same furry fabric as the rest of the balaclava, but oh well. The hood covers the wearer's neck, too, and can either go atop your clothes or under the collar. Last, I'd mention that the stitching seems solid, maybe even what they call "reinforced" stitching. Overall, I can't find anything to criticize about this hood. I'm honestly impressed that the listing's photos look exactly like the product I actually got. Super warm, fluffy like a squish toy. To say this is soft is an understatement. It is so so cuddly. Some great features are: The adjustable strings to tighten around your face to keep wind and cold out. There are 2 strings with tighteners on both of them to keep them from being pulled through and unthreaded. The strings can be tied or not. The hood and mouth shield are semi separate. They are connected at the base of the neck gaiter, so they can be used together or pull the gaiter down or good down. There are ear holders to keep the gaiter from falling off.
