The 1,200 watts is more than enough to run what I wanted it for. I have a portable smoker that uses 230 watts on start up and settles at around 30 watts until it’s finished. This units 600 watts of stored energy proved to be more than enough to run it for 12 hours smoking a pork shoulder for shredding. In fact I had enough to operate my 8kw diesel heater over night as well at 15 watts an hour. This unit also ran my 1,000 watt Kcup coffee maker and my 700w microwave. At around 30% I used a flexible 100w solar panel to charge the unit back up. Repositioning it through the day proved enough to top it up. I have two panels though so I could have set them both and forgot about it not resetting the panels for optimal input. I initially charged it at home and it was full in an hour (shipped at 55% charge) with its wall charger. I have used my cigar lighter port in the truck and it charged off that too but only at around 118 watts an hour so not great and would take 4-5 hours to charge to full that way. It’s more than enough to top up the 40 watts I use to brew a cup of coffee or run the microwave for 2-3 minutes in my truck at break (construction). Speaking of which, the size and weight make this easy to keep in my truck under the back seat. I was going to put a 1,200 watt inverter in my truck and a couple outlets but this cost about as much as that project would have AND I can use this away from the truck for camping or picnics and BBQs. I’m very very happy with this unit and it was far cheaper then comparably priced units for its output power, although it had a bit less capacity, the capacity has still proven to be more than enough for my needs. The units not overly loud unless charging but it’s not obnoxiously so. I highly recommend this unit. Also, this unit has a little trick where it can run a slightly larger inductive load than it’s rated for by lowering the voltage to lower the wattage of the device, for instance, a 1,400-1,500 watt cooktop, it will manipulate the voltage to allow it to operate still. And this unit has a no contact charger on top. Just an all around well built great priced medium power station for camping, vehicle, and light recreation needs. Read more
