I bought this mattress topper for my college freshman’s dorm bed (Twin XL) and it completely transformed the thin, uncomfortable dorm mattress. The 3 inches of gel memory foam feel soft but still supportive, and my kid immediately noticed better sleep and less tossing and turning. It comes rolled up but expanded quickly with no strong odor, and the fit on the Twin XL mattress is perfect. The gel keeps it from feeling too warm, and the cover stays in place even with daily use. Purchased this PERLECARE 3 Inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress Topper to try and soften up a mattress ser ta that was suppose to be a medium but was very firm. I'm in the top scale of the average sleeper, 235-245lbs. The new mattress felt like a 7.5 on a firmness scale and I wanted to get it to a 5.5 or 6. After alot of research, none of it specific or consistent, I first bought a very high rated topper from Amazon that was vari soft when it should have been a medium. Returned it an tried this PERLECARE, and so far am very happy with it. I would say however that the topper is on the firm side of medium, I would say 6-7 (to me 6.75) for my size. Firmness is generally relative to sleeper size and weight and I wish more reviews would list that information for comparison, medium for 165lb person may be a plush for a 230lb person. Even though the topper is just a bit on the firmer side for me, and I wish it was just a bit softer, it is still really comfortable. It states that the density is only around 1.8lbs and I was very concerned about that, but it seemed to more solid and supportive than the high density 3.8lb topper I returned. (I sunk right through that one]. The PERLECARE seems to be made very well, no loose fabric-bumps or sinks and the cover and material fit the topper well. It does look good if that matters. The straps, so far seem to be of good quality, the adjustment buckle slides easily and the placement of the straps seem to fit well with good spacing around the corners of the mattress. The topper does very good at staying in place and not moving while sleeping. I am one of those that move a lot during the night so that impressed me. Though you will have sheeting over it, the cover feels very nice, soft with no crazing stitching. Also after about the 4th day after opening, the topper filled out very well. Nice and even the entire width and length of the topper, no dips-bumps-or curls. Also bought a quean and the edges of the topper align almost perfectly with the quean mattress edges. Bought for my college bound kid. Super nice quality and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for that much needed extra padding for dorm room beds. Her roommate bought one from Target and it was not very comfortable and ended up having her parents buy this one. Offers great support and very comfortable. Great value for the price and even comes with the protection cover (which I doubt my kid will ever wash) but it is there. Please not that this does cause the sheets pop off somethings because the twin sheets are not that deep. Just buy the clips for your sheets and you will be fine! Do not open until you get in the dorm! So much easier to transfer that way. Read more

THE MATTRESS CAME WITH A SUGGESTION THAT I SHOULD UNZIP THE COVER TO ALLOW THE MEMORY FOAM TO EXPAND. HUGE MISTAKE! WHEN THE MEMORY FOAM EXPANDED, I LIKE TO NEVER GOT IT ZIPPED BACK UP. I MUST HAVE USED EVERY CUS WORD KNOWN TO MANKIND! BUT WHEN I DID GET ZIPPED UP IT WAS GREAT LOOKING AND COMFORTABLE. NOW I AM NOTCING SOME VERY SMALL THREADS FROM THE ZIPPED MATTERESS COVERING STARTING TO COME LOOSE AND THE MEMORY FOAM LEAVING SUNKEN PLACES AND NOT FULLY EXPANDING BACK TO NORMAL. ITS A GOOD-LOOKING MATTRESS AND FEELS GOOD BUT NOW I AM WONDERING HOW LONG IT LAST. Read more

I recently had to replace my mattress and bought a firm one to help with back problems. Big mistake. I could not get comfortable. I woke up repeatedly during the night, tossing and turning, and woke up achy and stiff in the mornings. I was prepared to return it, but decided to give a mattress topper a try before going through the hassle. After reading lots of reviews, I am happy that I chose this one. It arrived in an amazingly small box, but decompressed quickly. The smell other reviewers mention went away overnight. I woke after my first night sleeping on it feeling gloriously well rested for the first time in months. The two inch pad provides just enough squish that I can sleep on my side comfortably but still have the support of a firm mattress.
