Here's the thing: My dog's bed now rivals our human memory foam mattress, and I find myself actually laying on her bed sometimes. Then, I think to myself that I wish I had gone this route sooner. She could have been enjoying this bed for years as a senior, large breed dog. I would say that if you're open to a very simple DIY solution, this is probably the most cost effective way to build a great dog bed. We had a gutted Costco dog bed with a pretty outer cover that we wanted to use, and I'm glad to say we were able to make it work. The foam: The blue foam is indeed a cool, gel-infused foam, all the way through. It has an appropriate amount of "give" for a large/giant breed dog, and I'm sure smaller dogs, too. It's easy to cut with a reasonably sharp knife, so as long as the dimensions are as big or slightly bigger than your intended outer cover, you can trim it to size very easily. It is literally the easiest DIY project. The sold-separately inner cover: It's very forgiving and can accommodate a range of foam sizes. The one we ordered is slightly longer than needed, and this extra length isn't noticed when inside the outer cover we already owned. A definite must-have if you want to prolong the life of the foam. Bottom line: if you've been scouring the internet for dog bed options, wanting to give your dog maximum comfort but also kind of appalled by the prices of "meh" dog beds, really consider this option. If you're not into their outer cover options, get one someplace else or reuse a cover you already have. Or make one yourself! Your dog will find the bed super comfy, and you might be tempted to lay on it too. Read more

Fits perfectly inside the metal kennel we have for our dogs. We have two that are getting older and both are having arthritic issues so we got this in the hope it eases their joints. Looked a long time to get the exact size I needed. Read more

Our dog started lying on a memory foam topper that was on the ground during an apartment move and so we decided to order this memory foam pad after researching various offerings. Unlike many products advertised as "memory foam" this is 100% gel-infused foam throughout, many other products only have that as a layer on top of conventional foam pads. Using an electric carving knife from the kitchen, it was relatively easy to cut this pad into shapes which fit a rectangular crate and an oval basket, with some large chunks to spare for future needs. We wrapped each shaped pad in a larger fleece blanket to act as a casing, which has worked well and not needed re-tucking yet. After trying her old crate and basket again with the new memory foam padding, she has been using them far more frequently and sleeping longer, which matched her behavior after taking advantage of our mattress topper that she found awhile back. So, I would consider this product successful in various ways, most importantly that our elderly dog member of the family seems to find it very comfy. Read more

My Bichon Frise who is 11 years old is very grateful for the memory foam pad that allows him to drop to the hard wooden floor from my lap and not hurt! We are both grateful for it!! Read more

From the time I opened the box, I knew this was a quality product. This was to replace the old paper crate filled mattress my dog was sleeping on. It formed to full thickness after about a 1/2 hour of unrolling it. I was hesitate about her using it because she was used to the old saggy one, but as soon as she laid on it she curled right up all comfy and cozy. The pad forms right back to shape after she gets up. At 80lbs and 9 years old, my girl is sleeping and walking better. This is one quality product. Thank You! Read more

Purchased several of these to replace poly fill dog bed inserts, as our dog is getting older and we wanted to give her more memory foam beds. It was far cheaper to do this than to buy new dog beds, particularly since our dog bed covers were still in good shape. Dog beds were received vacuum sealed and they tell you to give it 24/48 hours to expand to full size, though it seems like they were pretty much full size with a few minutes of unpacking them. If you are on the fence between the 3 and 4 inch sizes, Would err on getting the 4 in depth if you have a medium-large dog. Thanks for a great product, would definitely recommend. (No I was not paid for this review and did not receive these as part of any sort of promotion-for-review.) Read more

I got the 2 pack for my 2 pups. The foam pads are not the same. One has a drier feel the other has a tacky feel. They are not the same color either. They are very firm also. I put extra padding and a cover on them. My pups can't decide if they like them. They prefer my lap to the foam pads. Read more
